    Red Blue Gold (New Speaker Wire?)

    Anyone know anything about this (apparently new?) speaker wire?

    "Red, Blue, Gold"

    Image Below:

    Used on my headphones (the wire was cut and i'm attempting to repair it).

    It seems to be fabric coated? (allowing the wires to touch one another without shorting out?)

    I'm hoping to connect this wire to a standard "Red/Black" speaker wire (which already has a 1/4" tip connected to the other end.)

    I'm assuming this type of wire is somewhat new? (I cannot find much information pertaining to it online).

    Any information is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    -Pick

    You ARE aware that headphones are stereo, ie. two channels, two signal and one ground line, right?

    And what speaker do you intend to connect through that, anyway?

          Still, isn't that MUCH too flimsy for use as speaker wire (ie. between an amplifier output and a speaker)?

            Going from memory on a set of headphones I repaired some years ago:
            GOLD = ground
            RED = LEFT Ch
            BLUE = RIGHT Ch
            .... though I might have R/L channels backwards, I don't remember.

            If you are doing a headphone repair, do a resistance test with your multimeter and the headphones on your head. The ground wire will show equal resistance to both L and R channels, and you will hear a "click" or a pluck from whichever headphone side you are happening to measure at that moment. But if you attempt to measure resistance between L and R channel wires, you should get twice the resistance and both phones would "click".

            +1

            But be careful - too much heat/flame, and the wire will catch fire and/or burn too hot, making it too brittle/weak afterwards.

              RCA WHP141 wireless headphones wired up
              by momaka
              OK, this one dates back to 2015! I thought I had posted this, but realized I didn’t when I posted a picture of something else. So here it goes…

              Back in 2015, I bought a pair of RCA WHP141 wireless headphones at Micro Center for $2. I even mentioned it in the best cheap/free scores thread right here. Just forgot to follow up with that.

              As mentioned back then, these are (were) 900 MHz FM wireless headphones. No modern day Blutooth or anything like that. I knew they wouldn’t be great headphones or even that good… but the price was right! So let’s take...

              Fix broken tinsel wire on Speaker
              by mar1in
              Hi everyone,

              I've saved a pair of Philips AH 495 speakers from landfill and diagnosed the woofers are not working due to a loose or broken tinsel wire just on the joint of the cone (left wire on the picture)

              What's the best and easiest way to fix this without damaging the cone ?
              Can this be simple soldered on?...
