Mackie Thump 15 repair, no sound, OL led always on, no -15V and bad opamp

This powered speaker is externally very similar to Thump TH-15A, but circuitry is completely different. Like the other repair I explained in a recent thread, this one has no sound at all, but I can hear some hiss that tells me that power amplifier is probably good. OL (overload) LED is always on.

Visual inspection OK. I detect +15V but not -15V. It comes directly from a ON Semiconductor linear regulator MC7915CT [U2]. +15V are provided by MC7815CT [U3]. Input correct (±20V). No shorts in consumer side. I replace it with a scrapped Fairchild KA7915. Now -15V OK, OL led is off but... still no sound!

I don't have schematics, but I detect 4 SMD diodes (1N4148W "A2") near input XLR/jack that protect input. Two of them (D6 and D7) aren't conducting in either direction. I replace them with axial classics, still no change in sound.

First OpAmp that has contact with these diodes is U16. Check input with scope, OK, but no output. Replace this Mackie custom M-80 DMP8 packed OpAmp with a scrapped NJM2068MD and now sounds OK!

Something was badly connected to input that blew protection diodes and first OpAmp. BTW, what is this M-80 clearly rebranded OpAmp? Mackie says in promo stuff that it "performs exceptionally well, offering low noise, high drive and class-leading channel separation", but provides no datasheet at all. Hope that nobody trying to repair any equipment that carries these "classy" OpAmps wastes his/her time finding exact M-80 replacements, instead of any low-noise NJR / JRC OpAmp in DMP8 packaging.

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
    by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB (Chassis SR) TV Repair Help - Distorted Subwoofer Sound and overall weird sound waveforms
    by LEECH666
    Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

Marian Trace Alpha sound card repair help
    by Christos Tsiligiannis
    Hello to the forum.

My name is Christos, I am new to the forum here and i am posting from Greece.

So i have this old German sound card from Marian, called Trace Alpha. To be exact i have 2 of them and i use them professionally for my small FM radio station here. The first one works like a charm, but the second one does not work at all.

To be more specific in the same exact pc with windows 7 (i even tried 32bit) the one works while the other doesn't.

So i tried asking for a schematic from the company and they would not give me one. Instead they...

    Mackie CR4 amplifier no sound
    by UserXP
    Hi, people.

I've got an amplifier assembly from Mackie CR4 parts. It's just an amplifier, there was no speaker housing, so I used my set of CR4s to test it.

Anyway, upon connecting everything and hooking the "new" amplifier to an audio source, the sound played clearly and strongly for the first ten seconds. I was happy it was working. Then the sound started to fade out during the playback until it was no more. After it had "dropped to zero", there were two very short intervals of sound playing at the normal volume, as if the amplifier was trying to...
