    Onkyo SR-TX705 issue

    Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on a problem I'm having with my Onkyo SR-TX705.

I have a 5.1 setup, and it seems when I listen to Dolby Digital 5.1 sources (Dolby Digital icon lit up on the receiver), I will randomly get a high pitched "tick" out of the side surround speakers. It really seems to be random - I've tried replaying the scenes where I hear the noise, and it doesn't happen again. It seems to happen at any frequency (happens during loud scenes, quiet scenes, bass heavy, high-pitched scenes, etc). Sometimes, it'll happen back to back within a few seconds, other times it'll go upwards of 20-30 minutes before I hear it again. Sometimes I can definitely tell if it's the left or right surround, sometimes I can't.

I've tried it in 2 different houses (i.e., completely different speakers, tvs, cables, a/v sources) with the same results.

What I haven't tried yet is to see if it only happens in the surround speakers - that will be my next test. I don't know much about the internal workings of a receiver, but it sounds like something wrong with the Dolby Digital processing part of the receiver?

I've already downloaded the service manual from elektrotanya.com, and I'm pretty comfortable with a soldering iron and poking around with a multimeter, so any advice/tests you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Re: Onkyo SR-TX705 issue

Ok, I just confirmed it happens out of all speakers. I had the movie on pause for the last hour, went back to test it again (but left all 5 speakers connected). I hit play, and the ticks were happening rapid fire, going back and forth between the channels. I would say about 5-10 "ticks" in about 10 seconds, moving from speaker to speaker. It might've kept going, but my ears couldn't take much more so I hit pause again.

      Onkyo TX-8050 AV-Receiver no sound
      by ai.need.help
      Hello,

I have a problem with my Onkyo TX-8050 Receiver. I got it from aftermarket and it was just delivered today.

It doesn't play music. There is no real output from:
      pre-out
      amp-out A and B
      phones out

The only real sound I hear is a humming from the speakers when I play a song from usb or select a analog source. And when stopping and starting songs from usb or switching sources, I hear a crack from the speakers.

I tested with analog-input, usb and radio.

I know that there is a common problem with...

      Anthem MRX500 - no sound

      Dear Electronics Experts:

I have the following problem I am trying to troubleshoot. Unfortunately, I have contacted Anthem themselves and even a local distributer but I am not having much luck. Also, I have scoured the internet and unable to obtain a service manual. The Anthem service rep has also replied that he is unable to provide me with any service documentation. I have performed numerous searches on the internet and cross-referenced a few other AV receiver makers (Denon, Marantz, Onkyo) and found certain similarities to block diagram...

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
      by rounin
      Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

      🛠 Original Issue
      The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

Three 820-01700 32GB Logic Boards Same Issue: Won't Wake From Hibernate
      by ugamazing
I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...

      Hello guys!
I have a strange issue with my laptop keyboard and I'm lost trying to detect what's wrong - the KB9028Q-C or the keyboard itself.
It powers on OK and has no other issues except the following:
      • CAPS LOCK does not work at all
      • Fn button toggles Flight Mode
      • When I press 't' or '5', it produces 't5', and when I press 'y' or '6', it produces 'y6'
      • (with SHIFT pressed: 't%' and 'y^' respectively)
I initially thought it was a keyboard malfunction (internal short, etc.),
but when I press and hold...
