Hi guys, I need some help with a CD player. It is a pioneer PD-F1007
The issue is that it doesn't play any disks. The disk gets loaded, spins up, but it doesn't actually plays. Just keeps spinning until I stop it.
If I put in the CD the wrong way, it will eject it quite quickly, so the unit at least understands that a CD is in and if it's in the correct orientation, tries to read it, but for some reason it can't.
I started with cleaning the lens to be sure, but ofc that didn't help. Also the laser is ligthing up at least, so it's not totally dead. The only real thing I did so far is I replaced the memory cap and fixed a few joints which was corroded by the old, leaky cap. But that's a different issue.
The pickup unit iitself is clean and everything moves smoothly.
There are a bunch of pots on the board: one on the back of the laser, and a few on the boards labeled as:
focus gain
focus offset
focus best
tracking balance
tracking gain
RF level
I didn't touch any of these so far. The service manual talks about the adjustments but I was too afraid to do a deep dive yet, so I tried to find something online, but there is so much that could go wrong I thought asking for advice from someone who is experienced with these stuff is a safer bet. There might be something pioneer-specific issue or some issue that could be easily identified by someone smarter than me. At least I hope so.
Any idea, what could be the cause with these symptoms and if it's fixable?
