    Parametric Analyzer?

I just brought home an old PACO tube based 5Mhz occiloscope from work for restoration, and it has this thing mounted to the top of it, that says Parametric Analyzer... WTF is a parametric analyzer? Whatever it is, there are settings for high, medium, low, and calibrate. It is plugged into both the X and Y inputs of the scope.

    Re: Parametric Analyzer?

Ive heard of a parametric equalizer for music.....think basically it nulls frequencies at different points.
So I nearly opened my big mouth about the wrong thing (although I would have had to check on it)
Anyway yeah I knew it would be alone some sort of similar line but with regards to measurement
(when I seen parametric I thought "equalizer" then I "read what you typed "analyzer"
I think it was used for semiconductors, curve tracing but not sure how the hell all that works now So I googled it for you.

this book snip it sort of confirms it.

I've never owned one to have the pleasure of finding out exactly how they work and any stuff I read on them was years ago

So stuff all help to you on how you "use"it

    Maybe the links might help

possibly search "semiconductor curve tracer" too

This is off the top of my head so could be wrong.

My day, Decent Cro's etc were very expensive things..the humble Multimeter was your best friend (never heard of Paco but it probably cost a packet in its day)

Hope the links are of some help anyway mate

    Cheers
