    Testing IPB9N03LAG Power Transistor

    http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datashe...B09N03LAG.html

What would be the proper way to test this transistor.

What I have been doing thus far is checking the surface mounted transistor in circuit with a DMM set to diode check and am checking between pins 2 and 3 in accordance with the diagram.

I am thinking that part of my issue is that I am trying to check this while it is still in circuit. I seem to get odd readings... This is on a computer motherboard by the way I want to learn a solid easy way to test these preferably in circuit anyone figured out a way to test these things in a quick and effective manner there are a lot of them on board would be great to be able to quickly test this and other transistors like this without getting out the hot air station to take it off the main board don't get me wrong I love the hot air station but I could think of much more effective things that I need to use it on then for something like this if it could be tested in circuit maybe somehow test with an ESR or something anything.

    Thank You all in advance.

Onkyo HT-R510 turns on and then immediatly off
    by redbaron1007
I picked up an Onkyo HT-R510 that when I plug it in and press the power button will turn on and then a couple of seconds later turn itself off. When it turns on you can hear the relay click and then immediately click again and shut the power to the system off. I spent about 5 hours today trying to troubleshoot it and I did make some progress that may not actually tell me anything. It's still not really working and I'm not quite sure where to go next.

Here's everything I've done so far.

The first thing I did was open it up and check for any burn marks exploded parts...

Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died
    by tvguy12012012120
This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

LED Strip test points and testing?
    by lmcancu
Hi is there a guide in this forum on how to test the LED backlight TV strips? I purchased an LED tester on amazon, but I am a bit confused on the test points and how to test the individual LEDs? I took apart a RCA 43" TV Rlded4331b. Please see attached pictures. I understand that all the LEDs are in series, but on these strips I don't see any individual test points for each LED? Any tips or guides?
    Thanks in advance...

1970 Metal Lathe Control Circuit blowing fuses on the 120 volt section failing meager test below 60 mega ohms
    by sam_sam_sam
I was working on this machine yesterday and I now going to use an incandescent lights instead of a fuses to figure out what the issue is with it blowing control voltage rail but this not the only issue the coolant pump failed the meager test as well as the main motor as well this motor has 12 motor wire leads instead of the normal 9 wires

This metal lathe has a weird motor setup it has a soft start motor with a “Y” and a delta type of motor winding setup and it is not done in the motor pucker head enclosure it is with four different contactors wired in a configuration I have not...

How to test circuit board battery connection.RS-4i sequential stimulator
    by Crrose
Not sure where to post this but I have an RS-4i sequential stimulator that runs off rechargeable batteries and also has a VL2330 coin cell battery that retains the memory. If that battery doesn't hold charge or connection is bad then the unit will power on and say to recharge. Once it is charged it indicates it is charged but when you turn unit on it powers off saying to charge batteries. I replaced that coin cell battery and now it won't even indicate batteries need to be charged. I have tested the battery pack and it is fully charged at 6V but the coin cell only shows 2.97V which is a brand...
