Re: Toshiba RD-XS24SB - HDD & DVD Recorder - Dead
Thanks, hopefully someone will be able to set me straight, I'll have a good look to see if I can get an exact replacement in the meantime.
Anyhow, I put the other 3 diodes back in, and put the power board back in, and I'm actually getting some life, even with the bad diode now removed, and nothing in it's place. The clock starts flashing "0:00", and eventually displays "E7061", which according to link, seems to relate to the hard drive, which I don't have installed, as there was none in it when I got it. Cables are present. Cooling fan is coming on too!
Display shows "LOCK" when I press the eject button, no response from the other front panel buttons.
I might try hooking it up to a TV, see if there is any video output.
So, when I checked the voltages on the PCON1 and PCON2, I'm getting nice voltages on all except the 12V for pins 3 and 4 on PCON1. I'm also getting 12V and 5V on both PCON3 and PCON4 that go to the DVD and HDD drives respectively.
I guess I need to figure out where the other 12V on PCON1 goes on it's way through the jack board.
I suppose my question for now is why would that one bad diode be messing up all the other voltages? Is it due to some interference at the big transformer in the middle of the board?
