  • Re: Toshiba RD-XS24SB - HDD & DVD Recorder - Dead

Now I find the time to work further on the device.
5V was ok. So I have a look at the HDD-Cable.
The plug was very groggy and after many power-on steps it works.
So I fix the plug with glue and hope it works fine now (for a long time).

    Hi!

I used the original HDD, Seagate 160GB, but also another Seagate with 80GB.
HDD is jumpered to CS (Cable Select).
I own the original remote control.
In other forums I read, there are problems by changing HDD. But I can't imagine this and you confirm this.
I tested flat-cable for HDD connection and it seems ok.
But in the wiring-diagram the 5V for HDD, Loader and PCONN02 are come from the same source. I don't know, wether inside HDD voltage is used, because HDD spins up so...

    Hi tmcw!

Did you get further experiences about your Toshiba?
I own the same device (RD-XS24SG) but DVD-Drive is fault, but HDD worked fine.
After I had a solution for DVD-Drive now, HDD get fault and don't work.
Now I get also E7061 and I tried many things up to low-level-format HDD.
    Nothing works.

Btw. on Scart at the same time HDD fails there also sound is gone. Could there be a relation?

    Thanks,
    Guenter
