    JackCon LHK

I was watching Top Gear on my 42" syntax-brillian Olevia tonight and of course it randomly shuts off.

When I turned it back on I noticed weird artifacting but had normal color. I waited till commercial break and switch off my TV from the plug. When I turned it back on I got something similar to this.

It won't display normal color it really looks like something that you would see in the 90's when they scrambled the premium channels. Tried a different input went from HDMI to composite same thing even the white from the Wii is displaying as red.
But if you first turn it on and you get the nice bright white OLEVIA! logo that displays normally then the set would go to no signal which is blue but it's displayed as a lime green.

    Other problems:
When first turn on you can't operate the buttons on the set or use the remote to access menu/change volume until about 2 minutes have past.

ATSC/NTSC TUNER on set is dead, it did work but one day it couldn't lock on to anything or change channels.

Anyways Power supply is not the issue because I recapped it about 2 weeks ago replace everything with Panasonic FM and acouple of FC after having bloated capxon.

Figured that was the problem, NOPE!

On the input board multiple KY and few LHK.

Should I replace the KY and LHK or just the LHK? We're talking about 15 KY and 5 large LHK and bunch small LHK.

Or is the input board gone?

I would replace the LHK units.
Do you have a picture for the KY units? This can help me tell if they are Chemi-Con units.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

      Re: JackCon LHK

I just had an LHK on a power line adapter "silently" fail. It didn't bulge from the top, but pushed one of its leads out of the bottom, and lost connection. This made it a bit loose but otherwise not noticeable but I decided to replace it anyway. Once I had removed it, there was visible yellow discolouring around the missing lead. (And of course I noticed the lead was completely loose, so there was no connection to the internal guts of the capacitor.) So I would say, replace LHK on sight. They don't handle temperature well. The LHK was on the primary side of a power supply @ 4.7µ 400V, but the power supply has apparently got very, very hot and slow-cooked the caps.

Some of the KYs look wrong. Factory caps usually aren't that crooked. Maybe failed at the bottom. The vent on C404 looks bulged, but the picture isn't sharp enough to tell for sure.

c404 is not bulged. The caps are crooked but nothing is coming out the bottom. There a few around the board like that. It looks like they just drop the caps in but did not push them to the board.

Should I just go ahead and replace all of them just incase?

Also what cap can I use for LHK since the datasheet doesn't list the ESR.

                Re: JackCon LHK

It wouldn't hurt to replace them, but it may not fix the problem. Jackcon actually has a web site, and the LHK series is listed as "General Purpose". LHK data sheet here. Ripple on that 680uF 25V is shown as only 450-600 mA. The lowest ripple on a 680uF capacitor Digikey has is 1.22A in a Panasonic FC.

I would leave the United Chemicon KY caps alone. They are very reliable.

                    Replaced large jackcons
                    It didn't fix the problem.

Anyways photos below, was going to get close up of board but camera ran out of juice.

It should be displaying Winodws XP default background icons and taskbar. Second pic is the board when it's on.

It looks like Jackcon finally started printing the series name on their caps.

I have a Jackcon cap that has no series marking and is rated for 105°C. It is still good, but I don't know if it is general purpose or low ESR.

Could the above be cause by a bad T-CON board?

I only ask because getting a new input board is $100 on ebay vs t-con board that I can get for as low as $15
