    Toyo TS - 905 don't heat...

    Hi guys,

I'm having trouble finding the defect of this soldering station:

    Toyo TS - 905

The iron heats up to + / - 60 ° C and maintains this temperature. Turning the pot nothing happens. When it reaches this temperature, the LED which indicates that the temperature is always blinking.

Replace the C1701C, but the problem still remains. After that, replace also HA17324.

Has anyone had a problem like this?

    Thank's!

    + / - 60 ° C
I'd be pretty surprised if it heated up to -60°C...

    Have you checked the thermistor?

Check the triac and see if it's open.

Also post the part numbers on the two ICs.
Elements of the past and the future combining to make something not quite as good as either.

        Ops! I meant ~60ºC (approximately).

Mine don't have a thermistor. Has only two wires...

The Triac it's OK. Was my first hint.

          The IC's are:

          C1701C = 8 pins
          HA17324 = 14 pins

Yesterday, I removed each of the components and measured them. Nothing, all were within the limits ...

          Tonight I will keep trying

Please upload your photos in your posts rather than using an external hosting site. That way they will always be here even if the originals site gets changed, goes down etc.

I have taken the liberty of adding them to my own post here.

I have good news! After several days of trials and tests I discovered by chance that the 50k trimpot was defective ....
Yeah. He seemed to be charred. When I measured the total, everything seemed fine, but after removing it to measure the resistance across its course, he "went mad"!

After replacing it, the station was OK!

Well, anyway, thank you all and here is a tip!

                Bye

Good to know you fixed it!

It makes sense that it would cause the problem, but not until you know it was the problem, if you know what I mean.

I wonder if the trimpot was burned due to some other defective component, that you have already replaced?

Trying to learn electronics repair as a hobby. I have no formal training in electronics, circuits, etc. Everything I know, which isn't much, has been learned from watching youtube videos, reading books, forums, etc. This means, sometimes I have a hard time understanding and interpreting what's important when I look at datasheets, and such.

My brother has a TV that I'm working on now. He said he was watching it, he heard a loud pop and it went off. I used my DMM to check the fuse, it was blown. From watching lots of hours of electronics repairs on youtube, I figured that was just a...

                    Hi,
I'm looking for ideas on how to aproach this, I spent many ours already.
The dryer doesn't get hot, only warm and then gives error E25 (Fault with the sensor or electronics detected).
Now I'm testing it using the service mode - it gets the temperature of the heat pump liquid to 52C and then it stops the heat pump. After few minutes it then produces E25.
I tried to understand if it stops the testing because the final temperature was reached and I don't think that's true. While it was running, I heated that sensor using hot air to 80C and then it stopped. So I think the...

Before proceeding with a component level repair, the usual troubleshooting process was followed:

                    1. Disassemble and unplug everything except the power connector.
                    2. Replace RAM.
                    3. Replace CPU.
                    4. Rewrite BIOS.

Unfortunately the board was still stuck with a 0.75A power consumption at 19V.

After reflowing both GPU and north bridge in one shot (it can't hurt) there was an instant improvement with a constant 1.75A power consumption, but I immediately noticed smoke and the typical smell coming from the GPU area.
                    I thought to myself "Well,...

Mounting and Handling Guidelines for TO220 TO220F TO247 Cases / Packages

The TO220, TO220F and TO247 are the popular packages for power devices because of their versatility and ability to dissipate moderate amounts of heat. This application note describes the basic guidelines for handling power MOSFETs in TO220, TO220 and TO247 packages shown in Figure 1. Please note that only mechanical and soldering guidelines are covered here. Additional precautions are required for isolating high voltage rated devices to meet safety regulations.

                    ISL95880HRTZ desoldering temperature
                    by Dreigas
                    Hello,

I bought from China ISL95880HRTZ (3+1+1 Voltage Regulator with Expanded ICCMAX Register Range Supporting IMVP8 CFL/CNL CPUs) chip, which I think is not the original one, but anyway, I tried to resoldering it with a 380C hot air station. Seems soldering is pretty good, but the laptop doesn't work (it worked before, but still had some problems with power delivery).
Is there any big chance, that they sent me two fake ISL95880HRTZ chips or did I just use too big temperature for desoldering? I will try with another chip, but I can't find any info about the maximum desoldering...
