Something I meant to ask earlier, is that did the meter pass it's initial checks & calibration OK? Could VR2 be adjusted to read the 82R resistor & then measure the 5R6 resistor OK?

I am just wondering if the unit is basically working or not, even though you are getting self-test errors.

i did try it out and it was very hard to set it. the meter was soo jumpy i had to be really really slow sometimes is would read and other times i needed more of a turn on the dial to make it read right. as for measuring i will retest it tonight.

Looks like you have VR1 & VR2 transposed.

VR1 should be 10k (marked 103), and VR2 should be 200R (marked 201).

The instruction pdf doesn't even mention the codes for these trimmers, and the component placement photo isn't detailed enough to show the markings. It should have been made clearer.

I noticed that the instructions also show the wrong colour codes for the 5% resistors. They should end in a gold band, not brown.

Also could you check R22. It should be 470k 1% (yellow, violet, black, orange, brown), but on the photo's the orange band looks like brown. It may just be a trick of the light though.

Yep. VR1 should be marked 103 and VR2 should be marked 201.

Is R22 OK? It's the resistor to the right of IC2. Should be yellow, violet, black, orange, brown.

I got .8.8 and it looks like we did it. Thank you all.

so all in all 2 components were in the wrong places.

Miss-placed my calibrate resistors .. then found them and did all that was mentioned in the manual and weeeeeeee it worked

Thanks again for all your help and i will keep looking to see if i can help anyone else with the same problem.
