    Seamark ZM-R6200 Rework station

    Good day Experts.

I have recently aquired a rework station SEAMARK ZM-R6800,. Is there anyone using this or some other similar station and give me some info about profile temp curve etc for removing leadfree soldered gpu chip..? just 1 profile will be enough to get started.

    Kind regards

So far we have used on our custom 4L PCB designs to remove / replace BGA and TQFP devices only. An older model from Seamark was used by Louis for GPU repair.

Hi. We have the next higher up model from yours and met Seamark at Nepcon last October. Would you not have the manuals? The machine should have pre-loaded profiles. Suggest to reach out to their team (they are a very strong manufacturer and had a large booth at the fair with many pieces of equipment).

Sharing a key contact name who can help you through the process.

      Sales Manager
PS: Plan B is for us to take pics of our profile temps, etc. but concerned if the heaters are the same on our model vs. yours.
PS # 2 - Be sure to send our hello to Joy from Canada (she will / should remember our visit

      Hope this helps.

        hi

would really appreciate sharing pics of profiles. wel.i have seen 3 models and this one i got is a bit used one. not much of difference in heaters..since i also looked at the wds-620. fairly identical all these machines. same IR heaters, upper lower hotair..only design and some functions maybe different but heating method is 99%the same.

        see heaters..

        Cheers

No problem. No i do not have manual since i got it used. but the man did sent me a link where the manual is. according to the manual these profiles does not melted lead free balls under gpu.

Which nozzle you have on top..? with mesh or plan one large hole..? i ask this because the profile i used is much more higher than yours yet i did not get the balls melted.. the nozzle i got with it are not mesh but 1 large hole..

i have IR at 220C constant.
uper starts from 160 with 3C/sec. for 60sec. then 195 35 sec. then 225 35 sec, 250 30sec, 280 30 sec. 310, 325, for 35 sec. botton air temps are the same with 10C lower on every step.

Real temp via external K thermocouple says 245-250 at the end of profile but chip is half melted while vrams around the chip are melted.

                Suggestion..?

                this nozzle it came with..

We have the same open face nozzle - have the full kit of nozzles we purchased with the machine. We also have a HD side view camera to allow us to inspect the BGA balls in action and can definitely see the balls turn into a 'pillow' shape which then will activate the machine to suck up the part for the 'remove' profile or causes the BGA device to sink into alignment for the 'solder' profile. The machine is a dream to remove / solder on BGA - bit of a pain for the auto mount process but we need to invest more quality time in experimenting.

I would suggest for you to validate if the heaters / temps are as they should be - found this similar fault with our heller 1809EXL oven and the in the end, the thermister A/D board was defective. The board reported that the temps were met but the solder paste in the oven did not melt. We had to replace the temp board which was a fancy multiport analog switch that would allow for the X # of thermocouples to be sampled one at a time but as noted, the readings were in error yet reported that the solder will melt.

Do you have a socket for a thermocouple (K type I believe) ? But if the same board is common to the machine, the same fault will be observed with the external K couple unit. Validate the temp with an IR thermometer gun from your local hardware store. That is what we used to reach our conclusion. I recall also using yet another multimeter with a temp thermocouple to confirm once again that the temps were truly out of whack. Factory should be able to also offer you a replacement board (if required).

Q: If you take some leaded solder and place it under the hot air - does it melt? Start with this simple test using leaded low temp solder.

Wel..as i said before. it does melt the leadfree vram chips while trying to melt the gpu.

since i did perform 2x rtx 3080 chips with this station and i do have a 4k camera pointed under the chip looking at the solder balls.. both reballs went ok. tested and cards are working fine.

only problem i am having removing lead free soldered gpu chips .

Your profile...? used for which boards..? laptop, tv or mobiles..?

gpu's are 8 layers pcb's. and solder melts 240C plus.. so that profile you sent is not meant for gpu boards..?

i just tested once again. 280C then ramp to 320 top at last 40 sec and the gpu chip did came lose. but i also increased top airflow from 5 to 8 this time. maybe i was using it too low.

i think i need to use high temp profile because gpu chips are thick and large compared to laptop cpu, pch or gpu.

                        Thoughts....??

A note.. Q: IR is set to 200.. but when i place thermocouple on it directly its beyond 400C. Is it how it is..? where is its own thermocouple located..? or placing thermocouple directly to it is just wrong..?

Got it. that profile is ok for that board. I think the machine itself is ok. only i were using temps meant for small chips. that gpu for macbook is way too thin compared to a desktop 3080 chipsets.

His machine is a bit different than mine.. maybe higher or lower model.. but pretty much the same heaters and so on. even the new zm-r7220 is using the same principle all i can see is different design.

Anyway. thanks for your help. i will go with trial and error on donors boards until i reach what i need.

Btw. is that IR temps issue..? does it goes to 400 while you set it to 200? or placing thermocouple directly to it is wrong..

Does anyone has a firmware for this station and want to share with me. i will really appreciate any help possible..
