would like some help regarding soldering pls

    hello

i'm pretty good at soldering but i'm a little stumped at this .

i'm trying to solder some wires to a xbox360 pad , but all i have to go on is a picture and i'm not sure how to do it .

i have the orange wire soldered no probs. but i dont understand how to get the yellow wire soldered onto the pcb and why does it say cut ?. does it mean i solder both wires then cut the solder so they dont touch?

if any one could help me?, i would be very grateful.

    reagrds

no didnt put the "cut" on there.

If I only had those two images to go by, the word CUT would normally signify that you should take something like an xacto knife and carefully put a cut in the thin circuit trace of the PCB that normally joins where the orange and yellow wires are to be soldered so that the two wires will not be electrically connected by that trace (and also to cut the PCB trace between where the green and purple wire are to be attached).

if there is no pad available you may be expected to solder the yellow wire directly onto the circuit trace (just to the right of your cut mark), after you scrape off some of the solder mask first.

        Regards,
        Frank

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
          by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

Friend messed up my laptop motherboard while working on my bench
          by Geeker007
          Hi All,

So my friend was visiting and he wanted to use my solder bench to solder on some WLED circuit board. My laptop was open on the side for RAM upgrade. I know my mistake.

So while soldering he had too much solder on the soldering iron tip and he just shook off the soldering iron on the table itself to remove extra solder on the soldering tip and it landed on the motherboard of laptop. He then out of fear tried to remove it using solder wick and did more damage by removing some components as well. So here I am with weird situation.

          I have not tried putting...

BGA solder balls not connecting - help pls
          by petemanuk
So I though in my spare time I’d set myself up repairing motherboards mainly pin damaged lga1151 sockets types.

I’m using an achi ir sc pro rework station (gave up on my Achie ir6500 - don’t recommend)

I’ve managed to get my rework profile somewhere in the correct region (after a lot of trial and error) to get the old sockets off and reflow new ones back on again, the problems I’m getting is not all of the solder balls are re-attaching when re-flow occurs. I know this because when socket is removed pads still look clean and have no solder...

Elitebook 840 G5 Bios Chip Soldering Question
          by Azurain
          Hi everyone,

I have an HP Elitebook 840 G5 that I am trying to get working again. I've removed the front bios chip (the 32mb one) and have run it through HP unlocker already. I've uploaded and verified the new bin, but am now experiencing an issue that has led me to believe I've been soldering the chip back to the motherboard incorrectly.

Essentially, after re-soldering the chip back into its place and reassembling the laptop, the charging light immediately flashes orange and white and then shifts to a solid white. The capslock and numlock lights blink seven times...
