how do you resolve problems with ebay (and other shop) scammers!?
        by myth77
When i need to replace cpu or gpu or pch ...i mostly order reballed chip from china, but lately there are more broken ones then working.
So lately i tried with ebay "not working motherboards". I ordered a few broken motherboards from ebay but i have found out that there are many scammers on ebay. The most of them are selling already destroyed motherboards with pictures in low resolution, some of them are being scammed and just scam forwarding...
First board i ordered last month was ok. Cpu was dead but i could use gpu and pch. The second arrived 2 weeks ago...and it was...

ITE IT8390 (IT8390E-256) programmer "ITE Download Board 4" user manual + firmware, flashing ITE ECs on the cheap
        by H34TO
Recently I've gotten into EC flashing due to my broken laptop(s) and started frantically searching methods for flashing the IT5571E-128 chip on the cheap(due to me beaing a student and not having a job) and noticed that ITE newer chips can be flashed via ISP (In-System Programming) either via SMBus or the KBC (EPP - Enhanced Parallel Port) interface. While these can be achieved with programmers like SVOD4/3 or the RT809H/F those options are WAYYY out of my budget so I was horrified. But recently I stumbled uppon some programmers on aliexpress that claim they can program a variety of ITE chips...

Backlight strip quality, Amazon vs Ebay vs ShopJimmy. Is there really a difference?
        by DXseekerMO
        Hello everyone!

Recently I've noticed that some ShopJimmy backlight strips don't have double-sided tape installed upon them when an application calls for it, and I must purchase the tape separately. In a recent chat conversation with a customer service agent I told them if this tape wasn't applied when it was called for I would begin to consider ordering my backlight strips elsewhere. It looks like this time may have come.

I recently got a TCL 65S4 with bad backlights. After looking at the SJ listing here: https://www.shopjimmy.com/tcl-jl-d65...365as-m-led-ba...

Spare Parts + eBay's Finest = Worst Gaming PC of 2021?
        by shovenose
Alright folks, today I present my latest "build", consisting of mostly spare parts with a few things off eBay.

        Parts List and Pricing

CPU: 3/0GHz 4C/4T Intel Core i5-7400. Nothing exciting here, got it off eBay for $80.

RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair DDR4-2400. Had it floating around. Free.

Motherboard: Gigabyte B250M-Gaming 3. Because I had it floating around and the model number contains gaming so it must be better, right? Free.

Storage: 240GB WD Easystore SSD. As far as I know, it's just the Best Buy rebadge of...

        MSI GTX 970 4G V316 1.3 - 5 ohms from 12V to GND
        by whc14765
I got an old broken GTX 970 on eBay for cheap, just to see if I can repair it. I haven't repaired anything before but I do have electronics experience.

        No physical damage at all.
Does not power on at all.

The only issue I see is that the +12V from the 6pin PCIE power connector is showing 5.5ohms to GND. I have been tracing with the schematics and I can't seem to find where the 5.5 ohm short is.

Still waiting on my freeze spray before I can find it thermally. Any advice on how to locate the 5.5 ohm short until then?
