Hi all, a very quick question. Can anyone tell me if buffer ic 3289F can be substituted by 3293F? Thank you!!

No worries and yes most of the 3xxxf ics are interchangeable with no visible affects. Also you might need to repair the Ysus have you done so ?

            Re: Buffer Ic Substitution

No worries common issue is Ymain kills the buffer, are you replacing the Ic yourself ?
I have replaced a scan Ic before its not easy tbh as long as you use a good method.

Yes I am going to replace myself. I have a reflow station that i will use. Do you suggest anything specific from you experience?

                Re: Buffer Ic Substitution

                Here is what I suggest:
Clean off all pins with solder wick and heatsink pad before doing anything then wash with Ipa
Apply solder to the heatsink pad under the Ic
Apply flux to the solder pad
Place Ic on top of solder pad
Heat area until molten, the Ic should fall into place as the solder from the pad will take to the ic, then lower heat slowly until off, and make sure that Ic is positioned properly
Apply flux to all pins around Ic
Apply solder on all pins don't drag it out !
                Apply more flux to pins
Use flux based solder wick and wick up the large amount of solder around Ic, until you can see that pins are connect to the pcb but not shorted. You will need a lot of flux for this !
                Clean with Ipa afterwards

                  Re: Buffer Ic Substitution

Its hard to preform and you will need decent Smd skills, you can not hot air or heat plate the Ic into place you need to solder it with an iron.

                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Schematic or datasheet for Plasma TV buffer chip
                      by Yanleb
                      Hi all,

I'm interested in understanding how a buffer board chip is working. I know there's about 90 outputs per chip to the plasma panel, but I'm more interested to know about the input pins. I guess that some of them are address pins, but I want to know more.

So far I've found nothing at all. I haven't found any datasheet about the various buffer chips, and I haven't found any schematic for the buffer board using them (Y Buffer Board in Samsung's terminology).

Any information will make me happy. It can be from any buffer chip or plasma TV manufacturer....

LG 42PC3 buffer output doesn't follow YSUS
                      by legg
LG42PC3D -UD originally with green lamp but no display or audio.
Owner says was working, then went 'pop'.
                      All 5V caps bulging. replaced.
All PSU output voltages within spec but -Vy is low on YSUS.
One of three parallel fets between SUS_OUT and SUS_DN is zenering,
eventually shorts DG. Replaced all 3 - -Vy now OK.

Y scan buffer test point does not follow YSUS output below -50V

Note: This unit seems to expect YSUS output to park at -Vy in between
drive signal pattern periods. A replacement drive signal board confirms this....
