    Asus UX52VS BIOS Needed.

Requesting a 8MB BIOS dump (.bin) of the Asus UX52VS. There is only one version of the BIOS released (202).

I have the 6MB version (.rom), but my laptop doesn't POST due to a corrupt BIOS so I'm guessing its useless.

    Thanks in advance.

always when you make a bios request post the original bios of the laptop even if it is corrupted..
Due to a lack of donations, server free space at a critical level, and possible closure of Bios Requests all donations are welcome, click:

      Sorry.

Ok. I ordered a CH341A programmer from Amazon, but it is defective because the wire going to the clamp has shorts in it. If the wire is moved/manipulated in any way, the connection becomes altered/disoconnected.

Every read of the chip with the equipment that I have has different CRC/results, so the equipment I have is unreliable.
I was just planning ahead, but here is one of the corrupt dumps anyways.

Try using the attached version to read the flash (just check the correct size of your 25 series flash)

I have had a similar issue with a 25 SPI chip where the results were different on every read or write, no matter which tool or flash model I used. It ended up only working with this exact version.

I've also attached the factory 8MB bios for your model.

Thanks Lisa! Just wondering, is this a BIOS with a clean ME?

I'm new to this bios/Intel ME stuff and unfortunately before you posted the bios, I ended up bringing my laptop to a repair shop. They had it for 2 months and haven't been successful with the repair. I sent then the BIOS file, and they said they were unsuccessful, so I asked them what they did, and they said all they tried was to flash the file without desoldering the chip or verifying the flash, so my confidence with that repair shop just went down the drain. The reason I'm asking if its a clean ME file, is the repair shop is telling me this story, which I'm not sure if they are doing the right thing or not to repair it. Their responses to my questions seem really suspect.

I'm going to get my laptop back, but now I have to think what I'm going to do next.

Any recommendations on an inexpensive chip programmer?

          Thanks for your time....

Yes, this BIOS has a clean ME.

            Wow, what a frustrating experience.

I've read your other thread, and it seems like you might be able to fix both of your motherboards by properly flashing the BIOS above.
Since you've already disassembled the first board, it should be a bit easier for you to place an 8-pin clip on the chip and practice.

Anyways, to get back at our CH341 issue at hand. It's worth considering that the issue may not be with your CH341 Programmer, but rather that your motherboard or flash chip just doesn't do well when programming in-circuit.

Another possibility is that some of the wires on the SOIC8 clip could be broken, leading to connection issues as they are very fragile. If you have multimeter you can rule it out by checking continuity between clip pins and mainboard header.

Additionally, there might be a discrepancy in chip voltage (1.8V, 3.3V, etc) between your CH341A (which typically operates on 5V by default, if i remember correctly) and the chip. If you can provide the exact chip model, we can further investigate.

Once you're confident that SOIC8 clip is secured properly and one of the CH341 Tool detects your chip, you can start by trying the attached program above. If that doesn't work try other alternatives like AsProgrammer, NeoProgrammer, Colibri, etc. It's also worth selecting different chip models (same flash size) to see if you can read and verify the flash.

EDIT: Check this thread and latest post

I personally have only used CH341, so i can't give any personal recommendation. However, I've seen people recommend these as an inexpensive upgrade to CH341.

              Re: Asus UX52VS BIOS Needed.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I took a pic of the chip before I gave it to the shop and the marking on the chip is:

              MXIC
              MX25L6445E
              M2I-10G

So I returned my CH341A programmer because there were too many problems with it. The clamp wires were unreliable (continuity test wasn't connecting all the time when you moved the cable), and the programmer itself looked damaged. Therefore, I'm without a programmer and I'm about to order something, but not sure what to order. I saw that there's a CH341A version out there that does 3.3v now? The black version CH341A I had did only 5v so that was another reason I returned it...

Maybe I should order another CH341A? What do you think?

....and to update you on the shop issue: They were supposed to call me back with some answer today, and lo and behold.... no call... SMH.

Thanks again for your time... You're giving me hope to keep trying for this!!
