Re: VESTEL 17IPS61-3 shorted output diodes

I was wondering about the readings I've got: the recurring one (11.2V) is more or less what I've already got with my previous measures on the mainboard connector while the other (21.3V) is a newcomer... I don't know what to think but, though a bit under the expected (especially for the 24V rail), it may mean that we have 12V and 24V so the problem could be with the 5V rail... Or may the diodes be not shorted but failing and could this be the reason for the under rated readings?

Re: VESTEL 17IPS61-3 shorted output diodes

Given that at this point I don't even dare to hope I would ever be able to repair this board, I was consindering buying a replacement. I've found a 17IPS61-4 at a very good price but the board layout is different (the connectors are the same though). Are -3 and -4 interchangeable being -4 just a newer revision or not? I've searched for a 17IPS61-4 schematic to find the reply by myself but unfortunately I haven't succeeded in finding one: I've found schematics only for 17IPS61-3 and 17IPS61-2.
Thanks in advance for your advices (even on the repair of the board I already have should this be the case) and have a good day!

17IPS61-3 is the blank PCB P/N which can be stuffed with many parts to make many PCBA's for many TV models, you need to get the PCBA P/N on the bar code sticker. Is there bar code sticker some where on the board?

Re: VESTEL 17IPS61-3 shorted output diodes

Hi budm and thanks for your advice. Unfortunately, there isn't any sticker anywhere on the psu. I'm quite confident the model is 17IPS61-3, that's all. I guess 17IPS61 is the family and the number which comes afterwards declares the board revision or something similar but I don't know if one is interchangeable with another; I don't think so notwithstanding the fact that the connectors placement and shape is exactly the same on all of those boards.
By the way, there are great news! My tv is back in the business! Before definitively giving up, I've decided to make a last try: I've left the psu alone for a while and I've started thinking about the mainboard (I recall that my issue was the red standby led blinking forever with the tv connected to a power outlet). Well, the problem was exactly there!
My mainboard is a Vestel 17MB82S and searching here and elsewhere I've found out that the eeproms (there are two of them on the mainboard, one near to the other: U12 and U10) on these boards are quite unreliable.
          • Here I've found the software for my tv (mb82 and mb82s are the same thing according to my research before and my experience just a bit after)
          • I've taken a pendrive, I've formatted it FAT32 and I've put the file upgrade_loader.pkg (you need to extract it) alone in the root of the pendrive
          • I've put the pendrive in the usb port of the tv while it was unplugged from the wall outlet then I've started to press the OK button on the remote
          • While keeping it pressed I've connected the tv power plug to the wall outlet
          • I've kept the OK button pressed till the red led has started to blink rapidly then I've released it

The recovery has taken a couple of minutes (during the process the led on the pendrive would obviously blink as it does the red standby led on the tv) but you would notice the end of the process by the fact that the television would reboot by itself.
Someone on an italian forum has suggested to short pin 5 and 6 (the two ones, one near to the other on the lower right of the flash, on the corner opposite to the one where the embossed point which marks pin1 is) on U12 and someone has reported success with that approach but I think the solution summarized above by me is safer and better to be tried before, leaving the short between the two pins as a last resort (I haven't tried nor I will). Here and here are the posts I'm speaking of (in italian).
I know this is a slight OT but I hope that sharing my experience would be useful for someone experiencing an issue like mine in the future.
I still don't understand the reason for those strange voltage readings on the PSU but I'm quite happy and I'd like to thank you all for your help and advices, especially dick_barton who has teached me a lot of useful things!

As you can see, this one uses the same blank PCB as your but the board may be stuffed differently than your board, this board has bar code on it.
            Glad you solved the problem.

You're certainly right: I haven't ever thought the contrary as I haven't the necessary knowledge and insight. I was just pondering... I hope I haven't offended you: though it wasn't my intention, I apologize should this have been the case. Have a good day and thanks again for your help and the time you've given me!
