datasheet, a valid replacement could be SMZ25B3 but 130V rating seems just a nonsense to me.

I've made a broad research based on that single clue I have (8M) and it could be an 8M Zener diode but they come in many different packages.
The right one seems to be SOD-123FL but a diode always has the line showing the polarity while this one doesn't... I mean, I read the polarity on the PCB so not an issue and that clue makes me think it could actually be a diode but my doubt is about it actually being an 8M Zener: swapping it with the wrong component would end up with destroying everything (if it isn't the case already).
At this point, I'm completely lost with no more clues to...

Asus RT-AX53U no power and overheating
Hello to everyone!
As per subject, I've teared it down and found out that the zone around D1 (central upper part near the PSU connector in the photo below) is almost burning (I'd say the culprit is D1 itself).

Could just replacing it solve the issue or am I on the wrong path?
Thanks in advance for your advices!Hello to everyone! As per subject, I've teared it down and found out that the zone around D1 (central upper...

Laptop battery reconditioning possible?
Hello to everyone. I have a dead laptop battery coming from a Lenovo laptop. It can't be charged (if I recall well, when it was still fitted it wasn't detected either) but, if I check the three packs it is made of, their voltage is fine (I get the same reading from all the three, 3.7V).
I tend to believe it could be something wrong with the control circuit: is it something repairable and eventually what are the components to check for starters?
I tend to believe the best resort is just dismantling it and see if the three battery packs could be used separately for another project...

Re: Dead laptop motherboard: thicking noise
Hello again. I've found the schematics (LA-F481P) here but they don't contain a drawing of the whole board so this is quite hard... I've taken a look at the board itself and determined that the faulty components found by petehall347 should be PQ1652 (a EMZB08P03V mosfet according to the schematics) and PU1101 (a AOZ5048QI 35A QFN24 DC/DC converter) but I'm not absolutely certain about the second one while the former makes absolutely sense....Last edited by guybrushthreepwood; 10-15-2021, 06:20 AM.

Re: Dead laptop motherboard: thicking noise
I thank you! I need to check the board more thoroughly then scour a service manual for it otherwise I wouldn't be able to find the right replacements... My soldering skills with SMD components remain the biggest problem unfortunately!Hot air or what? Are there some tutorials on Youtube or else on how to deal with those particular packagings? I could just go to a mobile phone repair shop and they should handle the repair more than well but how much for it without any guarantee for a successful repair?

Dead LA-F481P laptop motherboard: thicking noise
Hello to everyone!I have a Lenovo laptop with a broken motherboard. It doesn't show any sign of life, no fan, no leds, no whatever you may think of. The only sign is a constant thicking noise coming from a zone of the motherboard which I have taken a photo on both sides. I have touched all the components looking for an overheated one indicating some kind of power drain but nothing unfortunately, too easy!
I tend to believe about a power stage issue otherwise it should at least charge the battery, shouldn't it? What do you think? Any advice is precious to me so thanks in advance to...

Re: Philips 32PFS6402-12 qm17.4e_la repeating PSU capacitor and fuse blow up
I was certain I was missing something! Too good to be true... The fact is that I could easily scour 1N4007s while I've found the exact replacement only from stores which don't accept orders from me because of volume and/or me not being VAT registered. I don't know what to do apart from hoping they're fine as it wouldn't probably be.
The picture is attached. Please tell me if its quality isn't good enough.
Thanks for everything!

Re: Philips 32PFS6402-12 qm17.4e_la repeating PSU capacitor and fuse blow up
Hello again. I've checked on the service manual and both D9103 and D9101 are FR107G-A0 rectifying diodes 1kV 1A. Is a 1N4700 a suitable replacement? It should according to the specs if I'm not missing anything...
C9103 is a 1kV 100pF and, as adviced, I would replace it with a 2kV 100pF.
For what concerns R9101, on the service manual I read only 0.2R: shouldn't I have also a Wattage and percentage? What does 0.2R mean anyway? I apologize for the dumb question but I've made a search and I couldn't...Last edited by guybrushthreepwood; 02-01-2021, 10:40 AM.

Re: Philips 32PFS6402-12 qm17.4e_la repeating PSU capacitor and fuse blow up
Hi and thanks for your help as always. We've already 'met' and you've always been very kind and free to help! I can confirm that even C9103 is gone (it wasn't so the first time, at least apparently). I attach a detailed photo.
What's certainly damaged are the fuse, C9103 and C9107 (the right naming for the previously attached photo is ali_c9107 and not ali_c9103 as I've mistakenly written). I would test Q9101, R9101 and D9101 (what about D9103?). I assume all of them need to be desoldered,...Last edited by guybrushthreepwood; 02-01-2021, 04:40 AM.

Philips 32PFS6402-12 qm17.4e_la repeating PSU capacitor and fuse blow up
Hello everyone!I own the TV as per subject that out of the blue with no apparent cause (I mean storms, black-outs and the like, obviously there was a cause!) went off. Immediately before I've literally heard an explosion (then, after opening it, I've understood why!).
It was the C9107 capacitor literally exploded with a flame that had blackened the whole surrounding area. I also checked the input fuse, also gone.
I replaced both components and, as I feared, just after reconnecting power I've got exactly the same result. Both components went the exact same way. To tell the truth...

Re: Philips 46PFL7007K/12 no signs of life, only red led blinking x2
Hi and thanks for your advices.
@William1967
The output of what might be 1.2V? The one from the FETs you talk of? I'm going to make a dumb statement: isn't the CPU up to the generation of these error codes?
I've broadened my reasearch and it seems that there is an SDM pad which shorted to ground enables a deeper error checking with more detailed error patterns (called 'layer 2')... Could this be the path to follow? Indeed there is a SDM pad on the mainboard...
What about...Last edited by guybrushthreepwood; 06-30-2018, 09:31 AM.

Philips 46PFL7007K/12 no signs of life, only red led blinking x2
Hello to everyone!I'm trying to troubleshoot a Philips 46PFL7007K/12 QFU1.1E LA with a 3104 313 65554a / 310432869183 mainboard and an fsp163-4fs01 psu.
It shows no signs of life. Only after a while it is connected to the wall outlet (let's say a minute or two) the red led starts making a 2 blinks pattern.
On the PSU I haven't managed to find bad capacitors or diodes but my checking has been very limited. What I could check more thoroughly have been the voltages: 3.3V and 12V are fine while L_CA and R_CA (I don't know what do these codes mean but it is how those voltages are...

Re: VESTEL 17IPS61-3 shorted output diodes
You're certainly right: I haven't ever thought the contrary as I haven't the necessary knowledge and insight. I was just pondering... I hope I haven't offended you: though it wasn't my intention, I apologize should this have been the case. Have a good day and thanks again for your help and the time you've given me!

Re: VESTEL 17IPS61-3 shorted output diodes
Hi budm and thanks for your advice. Unfortunately, there isn't any sticker anywhere on the psu. I'm quite confident the model is 17IPS61-3, that's all. I guess 17IPS61 is the family and the number which comes afterwards declares the board revision or something similar but I don't know if one is interchangeable with another; I don't think so notwithstanding the fact that the connectors placement and shape is exactly the same on all of those boards.
By the way, there are great news! My tv is back in the business! Before definitively...

Re: VESTEL 17IPS61-3 shorted output diodes
Given that at this point I don't even dare to hope I would ever be able to repair this board, I was consindering buying a replacement. I've found a 17IPS61-4 at a very good price but the board layout is different (the connectors are the same though). Are -3 and -4 interchangeable being -4 just a newer revision or not? I've searched for a 17IPS61-4 schematic to find the reply by myself but unfortunately I haven't succeeded in finding one: I've found schematics only for 17IPS61-3 and 17IPS61-2.
Thanks in advance for your advices (even...Last edited by guybrushthreepwood; 06-25-2018, 09:35 AM.
