    Epox 8KRA2+ blown GSC

    Talk about putting crap on a motherboard... Almost all GSC 1500uF and 1000uF cans are leaking.

    Caps are:

    Sanyo 3300uF 6.3V (will not be replaced)
    Teapo 1500uF 6.3V
    GSC 1000uF, 1500uF 6.3V

    The replacement is going to be:

    too bad you cannot use those on anything but vcore and vdimm.
    did you get any of the 820@2.5 from that seller?
    they would be best for vcore.
    i have used some 560@4 for vdimm.
    some simple ohmeter testing and marking is in order.

      Yea..true. The package was all of the same. I was hoping for an assortment, but since the deal was pretty good, I just went ahead and took the whole bloody lot.

          That would be sweet mate. I'll definitely take you up on the offer. I did end up with the 10k lot. The seller also had huge 4k-10k lots of Rubycon MBZ. He said it was unopened, but my wallet could only go so far.

          Here is a slideshow of pics of the MB. As a first test I removed the blown caps and replaced them with the OS-CONs or UCC LXZ. The board POST's, so now I can move on with the rest of it.

            In case anybody is interested, I actually calculated stuff to see if I was in spec according to THIS (pdf) document from AMD.

                Are those Sanyos OSCONs or polymers? If it's the former, have the purple sleeves been replaced by bare metal/lacquer?

                  Re: Epox 8KRA2+ blown GSC

                  They are Sanyo OS-CONs. Sanyo no longer use sleeves.

                    all mfrs are moving away from the shrinkwrap sleeves.
                    btw oscon is polymer too.

                      Yep, conductive polymer. Their audio line uses some kind of organic material. I don't know too much about it. Maybe kc8adu can shed more light on it

                          Nice job!

                          What are the rest of the (blue) caps you replaced?

                            Blue = Chemicon LXZ.
                            Brown = Chemicon KY.

                            19 hours and not a single memtest error.
