    She's a beauty! Now I need a manual.

After some scrounging around the dump I came up with this:

It's an RCA series 700 Type CSCL4AJA 25W base station!

I have worked with cb's before but this is the real deal. By the looks of it it has been modded (see the relay resting on the left side of the box?).
Right now it needs a new power lamp and I need to reinstall two wires that fell of the massive rear connection bus.

    But that's my problem.

I am having a real fun time finding the manual for the system. So far I found a mod so the unit can support a data modem but as for a manual I can't find anything. Do you know where one is? Schematics at the least?

have you tried SAMS? If it's been modded, and you don't know what's been done, that will make the repairs even more of a challenge.... Mapping out someone elses handywork, and doing it blind can be a real chore!

By the looks of it, all they did was replace a realy and it's socket. That data modem mod shows part of the origional schematics and clearly shows that a relay is present.
A few bolts and nuts and it is once again fitted to it's origional screw holes.
The two loose wires connect to two contacts on one half of the module (there's two relays in one module).

The CRT and PSU sections are the only ones I've used.

I can't seem to find anything there.
            Site navigation is also annoying.
I'm heading off to google again.

Don't you just hate it when you can find manuals for everything BUT what you are looking for?

As a matter of fact there is a ham club in town.
There might even be two or more people in my neighborhood who are into hams (either that or tv reception sucks). I just bon't have the balls to go to their front door and start a convo.

                    EDIT:
I just noticed that the relay I mentioned was made in my home town of Guelph Ontario! Is it ever a small world.

Better yet, since there are many more numbers and details on the rig, when my camera has charged I will begin providinig links to photographs of the radio.
since I first posted there have been several changes from the origional pictures, all of them cosmetic.

                        Okay, here is the radio:

Here are the labels on the rear:

                        The inside of the case:

                        The two unknown relay wires:
                        http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ated/wires.jpg

                        Now for what I did....

I replaced the burned out bulb (it's not yet fully installed in the pic:
                        http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...lated/bulb.jpg

I secured the relay socket down to a spare screw hole and routed the cables a far away from the RF section as the wire allowed:
                        http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ated/relay.jpg

I also installed a plug on the mic cable so I don't yank the cord out of the bof if something bad happens:
                        http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...lated/plug.jpg

Finally, to clairify, is this copper plated or solid copper?:

                          its likely vhf hi (136-174mhz)
if you get your ham ticket you can change the rocks and put it on 2m fm.
if nothing else the shure 444 mic is good for ham use.
it would not hurt to approach a few local hams if you have interests.many will help you get your ticket.

I'll see what I can do.
Right now I relly dont have alot of room and when my new shed is up and a roof is on it I can start spreading the goods(mmtty system, heathkit shortwaves, more radios and the usual ham fluff.

To be exact, 171.210 Mhz. One thing to note is that the crystals in this thing are damn expensive. As of 86 they were $89.95 for a matching two!
