My sister-in-law has had this TV for years. She says that after about 6-months the TV began shutting itself off at random. Until a week or two, ago when it would no longer power on. Pressing the power button causes the power light to come up for a few moments, but then the TV shuts back off. As it became gradually worse and worse, I'm hoping that it's as simple as replacing the caps. I've already ordered the capacitors, but I wanted to give you guys a look at the board in case there is anything you suggest I change. I will re-wet the solder joints, and I would like to re-position the large diodes so that they are as far apart from each other as possible.
Thank you to the guys at HEGE supporting Badcaps [ HEGE ] [ HEGE DEX Chart ]

Re: Vizio E241i-A1 woes.
My caps from Digi-Key have arrived.
Will it put some sort of unnecessary strain on portions of the circuits to add extra filtering capacitors?
For instance, C8113 near the bottom of the image is tied to the exact same traces as C8102. Both positives share the same trace as well as the ground trace. And obviously, the location for the second primary cap is tied to the same points as the first.
Would it be bad to add these? On motherboards, people have always suggested populating empty areas.Presonus Audiobox USB, Schiit Magni 3, Sony MDR-V700

Re: Vizio E241i-A1 woes.
Well, it still behaves the same after a recap. Time to bust out my meter, and test stuff out. I'll start with the previous suggestion, checking the voltage at the primary cap during turn-on.
Any other suggestions are quite welcome.Presonus Audiobox USB, Schiit Magni 3, Sony MDR-V700

Re: Vizio E241i-A1 woes.
So did you also replace the cap in the primary side C9103?
Since the power supply is an always on power supply, so you need to find out if ALL the output DC Voltages drop out or not when TV acts up.Never stop learning
