    Sony Bravia kdl46ex500

I was driving to work yesterday and noticed a TV next to the curb. I stopped and picked it up. This will be my third TV repair, and I still have a lot to learn. I plugged the TV in and got a solid red indicator light, I pushed the power button and got a green light, I see nothing on the LCD panel, but I hear the Sony boot up sound, then it restarts, 3 times and then shuts off. Im getting six blinks on the red light. I pull the back off and start with the power supply, and here is what I found.

    Wall voltage to board: 120vac
    Fuese : Good
standby voltage: Not good (4.66 vdc)
Power on voltage: Not Good (4.7 vdc)
Backlight on voltage: Not good (4.7 vdc)

At this point I stopped checking voltages and started looking for visible signs of component damage. Nothing looked to be burned/discolored. No tops of caps bulging.

So..... I need some reassurance in my thinking that the problem is in the power supply. It would be easy to get a new board and be good (assuming my thinking is correct and it is the power supply) Id like to delve deep into it and try a component level repair. I dont know I have the tools needed or the know how.. Where do I start?? there is some for of voltage regulation problem.

on a side note, I did see thru the back, while pushing the power button, the back lights trying to light..

Im unsure if its within the scope of someone like me doing component level work...

Are you sure your DC Volt meter is OK?
Power on voltage: Not Good (4.7 vdc) Is the pin label as PS-ON, if it is then it is OK. It is the command signal from the main board, > 2vdc = ON < 1V = OFF
Backlight on voltage: Not good (4.7 vdc): BL-ON?? It is the command signal from the main board, > 2vdc = ON < 1V = OFF
At this point we cannot help you much since you did not provide good clear pictures of YOUR boards.
I will see what the 6-blink error code is, I believe it has to do with backlights.

        Re: Sony Bravia kdl46ex500

I was saying the voltages were bad because on the broad it says standby volts 3.3 vdc and the reading I was getting was 1.3vdc higher than that. Same going for the power on volts being 12vdc but the reading of 4.6 volts, and same for the backlight labled 12vdc, but only getting 4.66vdc. I have checked known voltages with my meter and not had any issues. All the voltages of 4.65 something were the same within a few milivolts. The BL on reads from 4.6 - 0 vdc when trying to light the bulbs. All of the measured values coming from the 15 Wire sprout connector going to the main board. Maybe im not understanding. I will try and post some pictures, however I'll be going out of the country for several days.. Thank you for your input

Are you 100% sure that the batteries of your meter is good? When batteries are low the reading will show higher Voltage reading than it should.

Look for r602d on power supply.
