    SONY KDL26L5000 repair

Got this one in today, when you first plug the power cord into the outlet, you hear the relay clicks on but then clicks off.
Check 3.3VSTBY, it only shows about 0.25VDC. Removed the cable to the main board, power backup and then 3.3VDC is OK using dummy load.
Check the resistance 3.3VSTBY pin and Ground on the main board and it shows 3 Ohms. Start disconnecting the connectors attached to the main board, when the connector to the IR receiver/LED indicator board the 3 Ohms reading goes > 500 Ohms resistance.
Remove the IR board and inspect the MLCC and find that the C9101 10uF 16V MLCC shows 3 Ohms, so I replace it with lytics cap instead sine I have lots of room to install regular lytics cap.
TV now turns on and works just fine.

I think he made it "look" easy. The well experienced often do.

I was not going to bother with it first because it is only 26" and the 3.3VSTBY goes to so many places, if the unplugging the connectors did not cause the 3 Ohms to go away I would not have try to fix the main board.

But you fix it so there is one less TV in the landfill. Good for you.

QN65QN90A - Mainboard MLCC failed - now bootloop
            by l0lhaxz1
            Hi

I have a QN65QN90A which was purchased around launch I guess making it about 1.5-2 years old... had been working fine until a few days ago, simply went black and would no longer turn on (at all). No standby light and no typical PSU relay click etc. Absolutely dead.

Pulled it apart without doing much research first, suspecting the power supply as it had a faint buzz (I guess due to the forthcoming found short), investigated PSU for some time and concluded there was no fault that I could spot with the board removed.

Came to learn after a bit more research...

            Sony KDL-46HX850 Can't upgrade/update firmware
            by dkneyle
Diagnosed this TV as having a failed main board which I've replaced with one from a KDL 55HX850. They are (supposedly) the same board.

Being 'Smart TV' it requires a firmware reboot when you swap out boards such as T-Con or main board. It starts with a black screen and flashing yellow and green LEDS, indicating it needs that firmware boot. The procedure described all over the web is to put the software into the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB drive and it should load that up once plugged into USB1 port. But not for me. I can see the LED on the USB chip flash for about...

            Epson EB-U42 projector / Caps with 0.7 ohms ?!
            by narf
            hi all,

first of all: i'm a (motivated) newbie, so please forgive me any stupid question i may or may not ask

i'm currently repairing a projector: Epson EB-U42 that doesn't start (no lights, nothing).

            what i've found so far:
            - the PSU does its job and supplies 12V to the mainboard via the connector.
            - shortly thereafter, there is a mosfet (TS420-600B) where i can test 12V on the one side (in the data sheet this side is called Anode), Gate 0V, Kathode shorted to ground
            - not far away, there's the first cap with a resistance of 0.7 ohms....
