    SAMSUNG PS42C451B2D No picture,no sound - fixed

Hi, Picked up a Samsung PS42C451B2D plasma TV. Usual deal, shuts down, no picture or sound. Logic board quits with a slow blink indicating failsafe.

Disconnecting Xmain, could get powerup and sound, then tried replacing the IGBTs only xmain, blew them, killed Ymain, buffer seemed ok.

researching this forum, there's a few posts especially the RCA 42PA30RQ, same panel and boards.

Pretty clear reading them the only sure way to nail this is the Xmain,Ymain,Ybuffer swap otherwise it appears you simply waste time and money blowing boards.

Did this, sure enough, it works. as it turned out the buffer was fine so only really needed the others.

Firmware upgraded to 1024 (was 1023), not sure if this is worldwide firmware but this was Australian model.

I got the parts real cheap from payless components, he's since cleared out of the ones from the RCA & Viore brands which is no surprise since the X was about $11 and the Y about $13. If you searched only by samsung it would have been much more but they're the same. Buffer was $30, pitty I did not have the courage to trust mine otherwise would have been a working set for under $100.

Have to admit I'm not a Samsung fan but does have very good picture and reasonable sound with media player ability as well.

Below is some other models shown as the same panel and boards.

Yeah, board swapping is the way to go on these TVs. I tried to get cute by changing out the IGBTs on my first couple Samsungs of this ilk, and I ended up in TV repair hell.

Same experience myself -- I've actually only found some with shorted IGBTs. Most I couldn't actually track down a fault.

i did not think this one had any at first, sometimes I think i'm losing my mind but very soon after both had shorted transistors,

I think it was this one that was pretty convincing. I was quick to call it quits this time for board repair.

I'd do most of the testing with a meter and skip the voltage tests in relation to the mains. I'd only test the power supply with none of the mains connected to it.

Edit: Again, you may be looking at replacing the Y-main, Y-buffer, and X-main ALL AT ONCE again to get it working.

Combined energy recovery + very lackluster IGBTs (like maybe one for each main switch portion; Panasonic use 2 or 3.)

Samsung UN70NU6900F no picture and no sound
              by jchang
              Hi all

I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.

              Symptom:
              No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
              No sound at all.

              What I tried:
              1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
              by Ierwin
              Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
              by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Samsung UN55NU7300F Curved TV. Half side backlight out. Fixed by just removing the rear snap cover
              by howardc64
TV was fixed just after removing Samsung's rear snap cover.

This curved TV's construction is rather interesting. When the snapped on back is removed, rest of the TV will relax the curvature. Top of LCD panel is loose as it wants to straighten out against the slightly curved bezel. Snapped back provide most of the curvature shape. So just simple disassembly of rear cover will allow the rest of the TV frame to relax its curvature. Thats probably what fixed it but no idea which connection. 4x LEDs are edge lit.

Maybe PSU->backlight connector didn't have a good contact?...
