Nice Idea. You'll need some ventilation in that, both for the PSU and maybe an additional fan as it will probably get a bit stuffy in there. Also, you might want to make a hole for the rear ports on the motherboard so you don't have to open it up every time you want to plug something in.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

My only concern is the CPU heatsink - not sure how well those brackets will hold it should the suitcase be moved around a lot.
But other than that, it looks good. Maybe have a display in the other half of the suitcase. Then it would be just like a laptop (only somewhat bigger ).

yeah but that would cost me 600$ for something desent versus this is going to cost me almost nothing.
I probably don't need to say this, but....
It may not be costing you money but it is costing you time and effort.
Remember to assess your own value. You might be "paying" yourself with fun, amusement and experience. Try to make sure you "profit" from it.

I've been wanting to get my hands on a dead [or at least cheap] but complete one of these for years.

I wanna gut it and mod with an LCD screen and modern mobo.
Never had time to get serious about finding one but I keep my eyes open for them when I'm doing the yard sale circuit or hitting the good-wills.

Mann-Made Global Warming. - We should be more concerned about the Intellectual Climate.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. - Dr Seuss - You can teach a man to fish and feed him for life, but if he can't handle sushi you must also teach him to cook.

Phaihn, How are you going with your suitcase so far? I've nearly got mine done. I just need some RAM and a small enough monitor to fit in the top (about 15" square for 16" Widescreen)
