I am replacing a number of caps in my monitor. 2 of the caps i originally wanted to order were on backorder until august, so I was given a "better" cap, going from 25v to 50v. What I didn't realize is that the diameter looks pretty much doubled and I'm not able to seat them completely and they also touch each other. Will I be ok if I use them like this until I can get the proper size caps, or do I need to wait until I get them before installing anything?

Re: Capacitor question
25v to 50v might not be the way to go. Depends where the caps are in the circuit. I'd say find another source of caps and get the right ones.
If the contacts make it through the holes and the legs don't touch anything metal you are OK. Then again you have 2 reasons not to use these caps.

Capacitor detached from PCB – RTX 2070 Super Founders Edition
Description:
During maintenance on an RTX 2070 SUPER Founders Edition, I found a capacitor lying on my desk after reassembly.
I did not notice it detaching, so I am unsure of its original location on the PCB.
Procedure performed:
- Removed backplate
- Cleaned heatsink and PCB with isopropyl alcohol + soft ESD brush
- Reapplied thermal compound
- Reassembled card
Observed behavior after reassembly:
- GPU powers on and operates normally under...11 Photos -
by momakaI know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.
For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

by clearchrisI'm getting ready to put in a capacitor order. I generally look for nichicon, panny, kemet, or united chemicon, and I'm noticing that there aren't any 1000 hour caps anymore, and not many 2000 hour caps. Most of the caps are rated around 5000 hours or better. Last time I ordered, 1000 hour caps were pretty much most of them, and the very few 10,000 hour caps had pretty bad specs.
So what's the deal, have we made major progress with capacitor reliability in the past few years? Are these high lifetime caps ok to use? It's not that I wouldn't welcome the change, I really would, I'm...-

by Paxman_SwedeHello!
I have two projects on my work bench. One is a friends dead JBL Xtreme speaker with a blown voltage regulator and corresponding bulged and shorted cap. That cap has clear markings so I know what replacement I need for it.
The other project however is a whole different deal. It's a Zoom 9000 guitar effect from the 90th that has developed a devil hound howl when there is no input from the guitar. I'm guessing caps problem. So, since I don't really use this effect anymore I thought it would be a perfect project to learn on.
I have studied the board and...-

by PrologHi people, I hope this is the correct spot to post this, I'm new to the forum.
I have an RTX 3080 Founders Edition which has a burnt up capacitor (it was in parallel with another capacitor which appears damaged too), so I am hoping to be able to identify the capacitor values and order replacements.
I hope these photos make it clear which component I am referring to:
(yes, the soldering is a bit botched from removing the blown one, I know)
I have found the board schematic (attached), but there does not seem to be a boardview available. I have never... - Loading...
