We have a winner in the LCD market

Ok...what do you think about this?

Its at Best Buy for $379.

Is there anything about it that you would shy away from? They say for $50 more (extended warrenty) if a pixel ever goes bad, they replace the monitor.

Unless someone knows of something bad with these, I think I'm going to get it.

Thanks for all the help.......and I really do need it.

it should be nice, that is one of the newer samsung panels. nothing to complain about regarding the spec although 8ms response is probably according to the new grey to grey measurement and not the old iso standard. it is probably a 16ms panel. anyway prolly the fastest you will get these days.

it was not clear whether a DVI cable was included in the box. check that if you want one.

1280 x 1024 native resolution is probably quite nice at 19". It is a little small on the 17" samsungs i have but i am getting used to it.

DVI cable doesn't come with it, but since I need to hook it into a KVM, its ok. Not all my machines have DVI.

I was thinking it was pretty decent, but just wanted a second opinion.

Still not sure about the "pixels going bad" thing.

      Cheers

Toshiba T3100/20 Bought at the flea market - kinda working....
        by dicky96
        Hi guys
I picked up a couple of interesting items last weekend at the car boot sale / flea market

One was already working apart from cleaning out the RAM and PCI slots (Asrock P4-66G Skt 478 mobo, 3GHz CPU, Geforce 2MX 400 and Sounblaster Live)

The other is this interesting laptop - I paid €25 euros for it - and it weighs a ton!

        So it's a Toshiba T3100/20 which from a quick google is a 80286 CPU, 20Mb HDD, 640K Ram, and it's from around 1985

The guy said it was 'funcionando', which I took with a pinch of salt, but yes basically it...

Panasonic TH-65FX800A backlight LED's working but picture is very dark
        by Bazfletch3
        Hi all

While I have quite a decent background in electrical & electronic troubleshooting & repairs, this is my first time stripping down an LCD TV for repair.... I have inherited a 3yr old Panasonic LCD which has a picture, but it is quite dark (too dark to be watchable - but still quite easy to see; I didnt need a torch to see it).

I started by checking and trying to adjust all of the picture and backlighting levels, but that made little to no difference. I also did a factory reset.

From there I envisaged that the backlighting wasn't working, however...

TV Samsung UE55HU8500L (2014) – service menu + firmware reflashing advice needed
        by Robby-Gr
        Hi all,

I’m trying to recover a Samsung UE55HU8500L (curved UHD, 4K model from 2014) after replacing the panel. The new panel is a 55A1UU8EH, which produces excellent image quality — very close to the original.

However, since the swap, the TV enters a boot loop (Samsung logo → restart) unless I enter the service menu and perform a reset.

The service mode had been previously modified — possibly by a technician or during the panel swap — and I suspect some key settings are mismatched for the European (Greece) market.

        Additional issues:...
