Man... I just read the other posts, bottom to top. If you want to make old geeks shed tears of joy and sorrow intertwined, you should ask them about their old computers. It seems the only one that should be kicked out of the geek club is willawake

Unfortunately it resembles more an ATX psu than an AT one: the switch controller is an AIC 1686CN which supports remote power on/off, the purple cable in the "P1" connector seems the 5 V STB cable to me and the front power button perform like an ATX one (press once to standby, keep pressed for 4 seconds to power off). The whole machine is an hybrid between the LPX (connectors, board size, riser card etc) and the Flex ATX "pseudo" standards.

I only cleaned it from dust because I have never managed to remove the pcb: the EMI filter group (lower left corner) is glued between the case and the pcb and I'm afraid of breaking something if I force it.
Primaries are two Teapo 220uF, secondaries a brunch of Suscons (1000 and 1500 uF 10 V ones) and one G-Luxon (2200 uF 16 V for 12 V line): series names are unreadeable. I know these brands suck, I just hope caps aren't that bad.

I noticed its set up so that the psu fan will suck the hot air from the processor through it and poop it out the back. With how hot those old K-6's got, that can't be good for it. My first hp vectra vl600 was like that, had a cowling around the processor (667mhz p3) and connected to the psu. Worst idea ever.

I think ATX was originally intended to work that way, but obviously that idea didn't last.

Apart from the caps, that PSU isn't too bad. The fan is a Minebea (NMB), probably ball-bearing. The secondary caps are just starting to bulge. At the very least, get rid of the the G-Luxon, followed by the the Suscons. The primary Teapos should be OK. You should be able to cut through or peel off the glue.

NMB fans are awesome!! Smoothest spin and all ball bearings.

              I nab lot of them.

              Cheers, Wizard

Right: the fan is a ball bearing Minebea 3110GL-B4W-B24. A bit noisy in a quiet room, but about as noisy as ever. It should last a few years.

I'll open the psu again in the next days, maybe this weekend: IIRC some cheap brands make caps which seem slightly bulged even if they're normally operating. Secondaries don't leak, have only the "usual" bulging top: unfortunately I don't have an ESR meter to check them.
