Netscape Plugin API, an old standard for Netscape/Firefox/other plugins.
I guess Google wants their own API and not go with an old API, mainly to kill Flash and Java (not Javascript) I suppose (among other stuff, virtually all existing plugins out there including Silverlight)...

It's the basis for secure mp4/h.264 streaming, which is the only reason why netflix allowed it, cause it's DRM for non-flash/non-Silverlight videoCap Datasheet Depot: http://www.paullinebarger.net/DS/

No more flash. Good riddance. HTML5 does everything Flash did, in better quality and using less resources.Chrome's HTML5 implementation is fairly buggy tho - you'll laugh but the best HTML5 support i have seen so far is in IE11 on Win 8.1.
