    Badcaps.net has NEW SERVERS!!

WOOHOO!! They're FINALLY done!! The site and forum was down most of the morning while I was implementing all of this, but it's done!!

Sadly, the last VP6 has been pulled from active duty and is now 'retired'... They've been ROCK SOLID for the last 3 years running things, so they definitely earned their gold watch!

    Here's some pics!

wow it is a beast. that case is unique and no frills or bullshit just serious horsepower in there.

had the same story with hdd fans they put so cheap fans in them. you could get some papst fans the same size and mod them but so expensive.

I got 6 of the black baycool III's from www.pcpowerandcooling.com ... They take up 2 5.25" bays, and can hold 3 1" height HDD's. They have 80mm fans, not those cheesy 40mm's... Over half of those cheapos didn't even work anymore, and the ones that did were extremely noisy and annoying... I guess I shouldn't have skimped 3 years ago when I got those...

Well, the server is into day 2, and not a single hiccup!

Now that is a great product. easy to source replacement fans at that size. No more fiddling with those 5,25 hdd extension rails.

nice to see you are getting into cisco ios for your router. I am pulling cables here since last week to connect to the new catalyst 2950 switch. I think it will be about 900m for the cabling 24 ports. going up and down round cupboards and bookshelves and through walls. have installed 30m of conduit already. (One day i will install in an office with drop ceiling but not in greece probaly). This is an office with many spread out rooms. my knees hurt, my back hurts, my ass hurts but i love it because it is such a joy to terminate and then patch and see those ports light up. Gotta work from 17:00 to 20:00 to not disturb personnel so this is taking a while.

ios is a major pain in the ass if you are not familiar with the syntax. First switch i have seen that does not work out of the box.

UHGG!! The Cisco (IOS) was a pain! I had help setting it up, got it running and earlier this week something got horked and had to get back into it without any help... It was a learning experience, I'll give it that!

RTX3090 working fine but fans not spinning
            by emil_t
Hello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....

            Good Afternoon, Good People.

I know this will be an elementary little project for most if not all of you, but I thought I would write a post and get put on track, rather than bumbling my way through it with all kinds of trials and errors.

I REALLY would appreciate y'alls help.

This is the problem - My wife and I purchased a big ol Victorian/Colonial House in NYC two years ago. The kitchen is surrounded on 3 sides by exterior walls, there is also a 1/4 of the kitchen floor (ceramic tiles) that has a crawl space underneath, and the kitchen gets FREEZING cold...

my Xiaomi Notebook Pro X laptop fans work like crazy for no reason
            by sda sad
Hope this is the right place, someone can help me.
My laptop started having a really strange problem....
When I turn it on the fans start working at a crazy rate and with random breaks...
They can work for say 10 seconds and stop for 2 seconds and then turn on again for 5 etc...
And it's from 0 to 100%. I tried to install AIDA and did the processor chip test and the graphics did not exceed 70 degrees and the fans were not even close to working at the power they work randomly.

Dell Precision 5530 15" died to blown chip. Replaced chip and now only get momentary fans, lights, no screen or boot
            by joesmoe91
            Hello,

My Dell Precision 5530 turned off suddenly when I was running Matlab and wouldn't turn on, show any lights, fans, and/or any signs of activity at all. I opened the case, removed the battery and looked at the board with a thermal camera while the AC adapter was connected. I saw that PU1252 was >120C so figured the chip had died on me Got the part number off the attached schematic (see Mouser link below) and replaced the chip. After replacing the chip the board (connected to AC adapter) was able to briefly power on, spin the fans a little bit, and turn on the front led lights....

Spectre X360 DAX38CMBAG0 - overheating fans not spinning
            by magneh
            Hello all

Got this Spectre with an overheating problem.
I verified that the fans start briefly during power up, but never turn on again,
even when stress testing the machine and CPU at 100°C fans dont spin

            Ive measured and I have 5V, 3.3v and 3rd pin 0.
When fans spin during start up, the signal at 0v is at 1.6v.

Probably its Fan2Sig pin and 3.3V is PWM, not sure

Question is , how to fix?
I think these signals come from ITE controller am I right?
            Should I bother replacing it?

            Thanks...
