Converting HP EliteBook 840 G7 non-touch to touch if possible

I am trying to convert a HP EliteBook 840 G7 notebook from a non-touch to a touchscreen. I purchased a complete touch LCD assembly with a screen/back cover/bezel/video cable and swapped it out with the original non-touch LCD assembly.
The screen works but the touch does not. I know the new LCD assembly is completely functional because we tried it on a similar touchscreen EliteBook 840 G7 and the touch works there.
I contacted the seller and he said screen conversion like this will not work due some difference in the motherboard for non-touch and touch capable EliteBook 840 G7.

Does anyone has experience dealing with a similar issue? Is there something on the motherboard that needs to be altered in order for the touch screen to work on a previously non-touch notebook?

    Regards.

One thing comes to mind is the bios ic chip version might not be the right one for a touch screen because if not then this might be one reason why it does not work even though you have working hardware

Also did you download the drivers for the touch screen as well and did windows recognize it if not then probably because of what I pointed out above could be the reason why it not working

Clearly, the issue is with the motherboard. HP produces many versions of this motherboard. I tried reflashing the bios from a touchscreen computer to no avail.

I kind of gave up on the idea and instead purchased and then repaired a non-functioning touchscreen Elitebook.

It's from the bios, it's easy on the 840 G1-G4/820-G1-G3 including 1040 and 1030 to G3 but from G5 above I've been finding it difficult to do so.

Apparently, HP makes numerous variations of this computer. Clearly, the motherboard I have would not support such conversion. I had purchased a touchscreen and a proper video cable but no go.

I would up purchasing a computer from a seller who had one with a broken touchscreen and a functioning motherboard. After a quick swap the conversion worked.

Read my previous response. The conversion worked only when I managed to purchase a touchscreen computer with a broken screen. I took the motherboard out and placed it into the computer that we wanted to convert. Computer is now working as touchscreen. I do not recommend doing it since you spend more on it than just buying a factory made computer with touchscreen. It also took tremendous amount of time I could've spent on other projects.

I completely understand that because I have done projects that I have should have never started and spent just to see if it could be done but know age is priceless for what you can achieve with it maybe in another project down the road or how to repair something if you had done this project that you do not recommend doing

I have personally done projects that I thought were a waste of time but believe or not later on I was glad I did that project because it made it worth the effort to learn something from it and it made life easier

For those that still have this problem, the solution lies in the DMI configuration... you need to set your current motherboard bios into MPM mode and change FeatureByte, Build ID and System Board CT number to the previous motherboard or identical one that supports a touch screen.

I need the schematics and boardview for the display assembly and touch digitizer for an X230T convertible tablet from Lenovo. Would anyone happen to have them?

I have one in perfectly working condition, and I've been primarily using it as a drawing tablet for a while. But the CPU is showing its age with it not being able to handle larger canvases, so I would like to remove the display assembly and use it as a USB drawing tablet, and I need to verify the pin-layouts of the touch digitizer to do so.
