my hdds started crashing with VMs running thinking it software related

i had a thread like this before but this time its on different hardware to.
i had 7 HDDs running on the powerspecs pc and on the Compaq presario cq57 2 HDDs. the problem is that when i start virtualbox on the powerspecs starting XP or 2000 crashes the host drives and on the compaq starting XP, 2000, or BSD crashes the host drive.
the systems specs are as follows

1: compaq presario cq57, 4GB ram, AMD E-300 APU with Radeon HD graphics, HDD1 SATA Hitachi 80gb, HDD2 USB3.0 Hitachi 250 GB (OS disk).

2: PowerSpec, Pentium D 3GHz dual-core processor, 4GB of RAM, HDD1 SATA Hitachi 60gb, HDD2 SATA seagate barracuda 1000gb, HDD3 SATA seagate barracuda 250gb (with the infamous SMOOTH drive chip), HDD4 IDE seagate 80GB server drive, HDD5 IDE old seagate out of and original XBOX 10gb, HDD6 USB3.0 seagate barracuda 1TB,HDD7 USB3.0 Hitachi 250 GB (OS disk).

on both computers all drives crash and going over the logs that i attached shows nothing as far as i can see except that it is the exact same Linux OS booting on both computers the virtualbox version is 4.2.6. this has got me stumped so can anybody help with this odd problem because im stumped

    Define "Crashing"
A real hard drive crash is a hard drive problem, regardless of the underlying O/S.

List all of the common components between PCs.
I've never run into this problem with Virtualbox.

exact same OS (boots from USB) and there for same VBOX, same USB HDD Hitachi HTS545025B9A300 (PB2OCAG1), QEMU, 64bit, 4gb ram, prossesor speed @4ghz, 2cores with virtual hyper threading.
other than that completely differs between the two. but i think i may have fixed it by recompiling the kernel modulus because no problems now all machines run fine with no HDD crash.

Probably a faulty controller... do you have a spare to test on?

Or perhaps all the HDD's failed at once. Not likely, or so it seems... but from a HW point of view that's what it looks like.

I doubt it's Software, given the nature of the issue.

all controllers locking up a once? onboard SATA + onbord IDE + USB SATA controller+ SATA and IDE controller card on the power-specs PC, onboard SATA + USB SATA controller on the Compaq with the same software and OS seems like its software especially since recompiling the kernel module fixed it.
