    P4 vs. PDC

    Which one's better?
    Pentium 4 640 3.2GHz (with HyperThreading)
    Pentium Dual Core E2180 2.0GHz
both LGA775, the P4 with DDR, the PDC with DDR2
    thanks

    Re: P4 vs. PDC

from my experinece (a 1.8ghz PDC vs a 3.0 ghz p4 630), I'd say the PDC. If you are overclocking, the PDC even more.

      Re: P4 vs. PDC

Remember, the PDC is Core 2 based, while the P4 is a Prescott. PDC wins hands down.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

        Re: P4 vs. PDC

Wonderful, this confirmed what I already assumed...
I knew the PDC was Core 2 based, but I figured my 3.2GHz P4 (OC to ~3.6) could hold its own given it's significantly higher clock speed, but I guess not.
Unfortunately the Pentium Dual-Core won't be overclocked - it's in a Dell Vostro 200 Slim

still go for the PDC... slim = poor cooling = no netburst.

any core2 is going to be much more efficient then a HT chip, can achieve more processing power with a lower clock

            passmark pdc e2180: 1,122
            passmark p4 (listed as Intel 3.2): 887
