Whatever. It is a moot point anyway, since the laptop has been long bought and aside from a possible CPU upgrade (if used CPU prices drop), a possible SSD drive (if prices and power consumption drop), and a new LAN/USB/etc. daughter board replacement (broken USB port), the Laptop is up to par hardware wise.

What's with broken USB ports on your laptops? I thought those ports were really robust, I remember tripping over a cable once and it snapped the cable (and my leg) but the port was fine and still is after 3 years or the like :-/

Mine broke when my mom yelled at me for using my laptop and having the power cord in the way one night... she yanked the mouse and ruined the upper right port. luckily it's not the one that is on the mainboard...

I tried to solder in a recovered port form a dead HP NC6000 Board... but the lead free solder won. I may try again now that I have a 60W Iron (instead of a 30W). Any success/failure reports? Or am I better off paying $15 for a new daughter board?

Also, I'd upgrade the CPU (I presently have a T7700).... but the only compatible ones that would be any upgrade would be the T9300 and the T9500... which are ebaying for $50 and $120 at the time. IMHO not worth it.
