I have a diagnostic card and I checked the code in the booklet. The code is FF which means: Flash ROM programming was successful. Next restarting the system BIOS.
    What does it really mean?
Also there's a LED that's always on, the RESET LED, in which case the booklet says: When in reset period, this lamp display. If it is lit all the time, check the following:make sure that the reset pin is plugged properly, or the reset circuit is broken.
    What does THIS mean?
Should I call it quits and recycle the mobo?
I am tired of this mobo, but I still have some 4 socket 939 cpus lying around (that nobody is interested in on Kijiji)
    Ideas anyone?
You have a ground that is faking the reset button being pushed.
It might be something you can fix [if you can find it] or it might be inside a chip.

      Hi,
How do you find it? Visually inspecting the mobo? Needle in a haystack...
I'll try and find it... Would brushing it work?
The thing is...it was having the same symptoms before replacing the caps...

Start at the pins of the real reset switch.
One side should be grounded and the other side not.
If my guess is correct then both sides are grounded right now.
Figure out which side should not be grounded and trace the circuit looking for shorted components or a solder splatter blob or similar grounding problems.
Too big a solder blob on one of the caps legs might do it too [by touching a nearby trace] depending on where it is.

FF means either - It is fucked up
          Or
          Working

If codes on that display are changing, mobo is working to some extent. Some have a reset status led that is really useful.
If reset is held, something is wrong.

I checked the reset pins and they're not shorted
            I guess it's garbage
Should I remove the caps I soldered?
Oh, and the codes aren't changing...

To garbage bin (Check if all voltage rails are present before you do that)

                    Hotflash might work.
Kind risky to the flash-host mobo though.

well.. i usually use some older junk boards for that..
currently using an old MSI Socket A board (thunderbird core only. won't even work with Athlon XP's..)
that way, if something goes wrong, there's not much of a loss really..
