    CapXon & Teapo 400v 100uf Caps

    I've already posted about these in the Power Supply forum but not had any response (original thread).

    I'm trying to identify suitable replacements for a large 400v 100uf cap used in a Thomson DSI8215 Sky+ HD receiver.

    I've got a few power supply boards and the cap is either a Teapo or CapXon:
    - TEAPO 100uF 400v SH105°C 09/05 A3
    - CapXon 100uF 400v KM105°C C616 VENT

    Sizes: Diameter: 18mm, height: 32mm

    Can anyone help me find the specs and identify suitable replacements (preferably from RS)?

    From RS UK I have chosen these caps:

    Panasonic 100uF 400V EETHC2G101BA

    Panasonic 100uF 400V EETED2G101BA

    They are 22mm diameter so I don't know if you have enough space for them.

    If they are not SNAP IN type then you can buy:

    Panasonic 100uF 400V ECA2GM101 this one is 18mm diameter but it is not 105ºC.

    If I were you I would buy one of these caps, Panasonic is a good brand.

      Thanks a lot Gianni.

      Can you tell me why you have chosen those ones? (not the brand but the specific capacitors).

      Obviously the capacitance and voltage are the same and the temperature is similar, but should I worry about ESR or ripple or anything else?

        AFAIK ripple is not a big issue for input capacitors when they are filtering mains input voltage.
        If they are used as filter on APFC (active PFC) then they works more because they must filter high frequency current of the PFC converter.

        I have chosen them for the brand and current.
        The Teapo SH 18mm (dia) x 36mm, I found the datasheet right now, has a ripple current of 290mA, while Panasonic 100uF 400V ECA2GM101 has a ripple current of 600mA.
        The difference is Teapo is rated at 105ºC and Panasonic at 85ºC but both have life expectancy of 2000 hours.

        So I think you can use Panasonic because very often input caps are 85ºC rated.
        Check if you have enough space, Panasonic is 40mm long.
