    Video card Capacitor question

In the image below, you obviously have the + and - leads. What is the other lead close to the negative? Is it a problem if that lead gets bridged with the negative when re-capping?

BTW, I assume crap caps?... http://prntscr.com/i1txzi

    Re: Video card Capacitor question

I have never seen a cap with 3 leads. If you post a pic of the underside of the board it would help in answering your question.

I'm not saying the cap has 3 leads. I'm wondering what that pad close to the negative is for? It appears to be common on older video cards to have that pad super close to the negative lead.

        Re: Video card Capacitor question

It's to accommodate caps with different lead spacing, 5mm or 7.5mm in this case would be my guess.

Are you guessing at the lead spacing differences or the accommodation part?

I did confirm this with a continuity test. I guess if they bridge during a re-cap, it's no big deal.

Help Diagnosing ASRock Taichi X570 Motherboard
                by AlexForTheWin
Hi all! I'm a newbie to to the forum and electronics repair in general.
I picked up a nonfunctional ASRock Taichi X570 motherboard that someone threw away. My main goal is it to repair and use it. But even if it's not possible, I'd like to learn about the process.
I'd very much appreciate some guidance.

Here are the steps I've taken to diagnose the board:

I first tried powering the board without a CPU or memory. The lights turned on. As you'd expect, the board wouldn't boot.

Hoping the board worked, I bought a compatible CPU on amazon. I wanted...

Looking for capacitor lists for Motherboards, Video Cards, Home Appliances
                by madscientist750
I would like to ask if there is some kind of capacitor lists for motherboards, power supplies, video cards, audio cards, microcontroller powered home appliances, and so, that i could try to find and download. I use to repair those things and i would find it helpful if i could know in advance what parts may i need for common repairs.

GeForce RTX2080 Super Aero video gaming card issues help need
                by sam_sam_sam
This is from my son’s gaming computer that at first had minor overheating issues when playing a very intense game with it causing the computer to crash or reboot

Then bough a new motherboard and a new computer case that a cooling system in it already installed also brought the cooling system for this video card but now the issue with it is that it randomly rebooted screen goes blank randomly and suddenly video freezing or started with video being there then blank screen and then the video comes back or it just stays blank for a while and then maybe it will come back but it...

If I replace with inferior capacitor, Is it No harm to other IC components at all?
                by chth96
I replaced some capacitor which is located on optical pickup pcb which is shown in the table below(PCB #2).Because it have been out of order.
Now,It works very well,But I just have found that all caps (6svpc100my and other part number as well) ,which is shown in the table below, has ultra-high ripple current spec.
It is not able to obtain any capacitor which can be a substitute for this ultra-high ripple current nichicon capacitor.
So I replaced it with samxon and rubycon's general capacitor(GP,YXA series).
I know that these capacitor will not last as long as nichicon capacitor...
