    One bad RC MBZ :P

    Slight bulge (I Know the picture sucks, thats what I get for using my camera phone @ work). but the board still works, I will still replace it though

    I have a question though, is it OK to use used Rubycon MBZ's (and other RC's) (that look in good condition?). I run by a bunch of them on boards with other, more obvious problems.

    I work @ Goodwill computer works, donated boards that are JUST by themselfs get 100lb servers thrown (literally) ontop of them. I've seen boards that have places with JUST the cap contacts sticking out, but no actual cap on them. Its always fun to thrown away an ASUS Tri-SLI 775 board with copper chipset pipes cause of one missing cap (which I have no way of telling what the volt/uf is - depending on where it was ripped off). Actually I didnt' think it was fun, I felt like giving it last rites and buying a cemetery plot for it

      A good bet is to use a multimeter to find what type of caps it's in parallel with. It's unlikely to be a loner.

          I'm still waiting for a DMM/MM there. Maybe our Asst Manager will let me use his

          Most of the caps that get torn off I notice are toward the top or bottom, which is usually where loners are located (as opposed to the power rail caps for instance)

              You sure those "missing caps" aren't spots on the board that never had caps?

                      I recently picked up a laptop that was about to be thrown away to try to repair it. I've tested quite a few things, but I don't know where to look anymore. Could you please help me?

                      Does anyone have Schematics for Devialet Phantom speakers? Mine is not switching on. I see a burned component on the motherboard but I can't identify the component as it's burned and cant see the numbers ontop of the chip.

                      I've purchased this weird (and might add appears to have had a fairly rough life) laptop a while ago for $1 at a yard sale. It powered up one time, (saw a POST screen!) Then, never powered again. I've since thrown it in some dark corner, BUT, I've decided to look at it again.                       Hello guys,

                      I have a Philips 240B7QPJEB. The monitor seems completely dead.
                      I opened it and measured the voltages of the powersupply. I found that a mosfet was dead and replaced it.
                      On the connector, that goes to the TCON board, all voltages 15-19V and 5V are present.
                      The small connector on the left of the PSU has two cables with 18V and all the other have 0.2V. It connects on this small connector on the left ontop of the panel. I guess the backlight? Seens fine I guess.
                      The weird thing is, that the Power LED is powered over the TCON board.

                      Hello everyone! :-)

                      An acquaintance of mine works as a DJ in his spare time and brought me a defective QSC active loudspeaker (Model: K10.2) for repair.

                      Error description: The device could not be switched on (after he lent it to another DJ).

                      A visual inspection revealed an obviously blown fuse (F41) and a cracked thermistor (R41) on the mains filter board. A closer look at the amplifier board revealed two defective power MOSFETS (Q13, Q14) and other defective components on the +12VLOW rail.
