Do I need to use the same exact model and series or can I use any similar capacitor?

Great, I'll try and get some by monday, these days its hard to come by electronic stores and they said they didn't have any at radio shack.... I think I'll just purchase them online and report back when I get it done. Or I might strip apart an extra sata cable I have lying around and use that.

i didnt wanna suggest getting those jumper wires online as u'll have to find a site that offers free shipping even for low-cost items. doesnt make sense to pay several bucks shipping for an item that costs less than a dollar.

Alright, so they arrived, and I was able to force the PSU on. The fans worked. So I take it the PSU is fine, at least fine enough to power a couple of fans. Any other things I can try to figure out why the board won't get any power? If I buy a multimeter, how can I test components and the board itself more importantly?

u'll have to probe whether the 5vsb reaches the board properly and gets converted properly to 3vsb, whether the power switch header on the board gets power among other things. btw, after recapping the board and putting it back into the casing, u did reconnect the power switch header to the board? did u?

yeah I did reconnect it. Ill try again, maybe I had a loose connection. Anyway I ordered a multimeter, so I'll run those tests in a few days. Thanks for all your help so far!

So my multimeter arrived. I'm not sure what you mean by 5vsb and 3vsb. The manual for my motherboard is here. Are there any specific components I should test first? Definitely going to test the caps I changed and anything in its area, and I guess I should test the power header.

I'm checking out some videos on how to use the multimeter right now.
