Another SV25 bites the big one? Help!

    Hi,
I have a Shuttle SV 25. The caps all look great. Just like they were brand new. However, my board started blowing memory chips. 128meg went down to 45 meg. It still worked. (slowly) I was unwise in putting another 128 meg strip in to replace it. Within an hour I was down to 112meg. Even though the caps look great, do you think they are the likely culprit?
Any help would be appreciated. I didn't see any postings that mentioned that the caps were murdering memory, but it seems like it could be a likely possibility.

    Thank you

I just recapped a SV25 for a customer. During the testing phase (before I removed cover) I noticed the memory count would be sporatic. I then noticed one of the capacitors by the memory slots was not seated like the others and three by the CPU were bulged. I replaced the caps and as of almost two weeks the system has not locked up or rebooted. The memory count has been 100% since as well.

      Bios request for Satellite L670D
      by etonam
Hi. Would be great if you could provide me with working dumps of: main bios(2MB) and ec bios(256KB) for Toshiba Satellite L670D PSK3JE-01P005FR motherboard = NALAE LA-6053P rev 1A. I'm replacing the main chip with Winbond 8MB, expanding the 2MB to 8MB using FF bites. would that be ok? Thanks for your help. Etonam

      SV25 "Achme" PSU - Deaded

      Shuttle SV25 ACHME PSU - 150w

      Greetings

I have two SV25's returned to me with dead PSU's. (No power at all)...

Opening them up I could see the green "Teapo" caps (1000uf 10v) are all leaking/bulging so I've replaced these with brand new caps of exactly the same rating.

Unfortunately, the units still don't power up...

All the other caps in the PSU look ok so I wondered if anyone has any experience with these PSUs and any suggestions what to do with them next!
(or they are heading for the bin).....

      SV25 - Bad caps?
      by sgtmuffles
Hi, a couple years ago I got a barebones SV25 by shuttle that worked most of the time but would randomly freeze, restart, and wasn't able to install certain OS's without aborting and giving me a really vague error (something like "abnormal error, install failed" really short) and quitting.

Another weird thing: It can't complete a full run of memtest86 (the bootable disc, not the in-OS one). When I hard-restart and try to run it again, it hangs sooner and sooner. That to me would imply a heating issue, since the first time you run it, it's cool and takes a while to heat...

      <plays taps> 500GB bites the dust...

Well, there it goes, thank you for your service WD 500GB SATA HDD after 8 years of service, a bit over 6y 9m of power on hours..

Quietly died, didn't hear much of grinding or anything, it just suddenly stopped detecting reliably on many SATA boards. Can't get it to detect on a USB-SATA adapter or my 6-series board. Was sort of detecting and dying on my ICH10 which was what it was installed on prior to removal.

I didn't notice when it died as it was part of a 4+1 RAID (Linux MDRAID) array, Linux silently failover to the hot spare without intervention. Except I still...

      SV25/FV25 problems after recap
      by ArOs
I bought a SV25 a while ago. After some time I discovered that many FV25 MB's have had problems with bad caps... but mine was still running just fine. But to be safe I decided to recap my board anyway.
I ordered a kit from Topcat and then recapped the board with the received Rubycon caps. Everything seemed fine - nice soldering, correct polarization and no visible damages.

Now to the problem... after the recap I now have frequent problems with that the computer hangs in the "Verifying DMI Pool Data" state.
BUT, if I disable the L2 cache - the computer boots...
