  • Re: is this 1000F or 1000uF (pic)

Thanks I replaced all 3 and now the monitor works. I don't have enough caps to replace all of them but I will order them Monday. Looks like someone will be getting dual monitors at work in about a week.

This one was a NEC Multisync 1720M (Made by Benq)...

Thanks for the replies. All of the pics I found of actual Nichicon HD's had "Nichicon" where this has an oval.

  • is this 1000F or 1000uF (pic)

My work throws away (pays to recycle) our broken obsolete electronics. I grabbed a couple of NEC monitors and decided I would see if I could fix them. They all show bad caps. I replaced the caps on two and they work great and gave them out at work so they could use dual monitors. Anyway I opened another NEC (rebranded Benq) and noticed the following 3 caps. The two on the left are 1000uF but the silver only says 1000 16v. I assumed this was 1000F but I wanted to get your opinion since I don't want to put the wrong type in. Here is a pic of the caps with an insert of the same type of cap elsewhere...

  • good results

One thing I have used since my school days is a vise to hold the electronics board while I solder. Oh and BTW I just recapped a SV25 and so far 3-4 weeks with no issues. I originally noticed the bulging on the 3 same caps you mentioned (by the CPU) I did a Google on SV25 capacitors and found this site. I had to go with the 6.3v version as the 10v is difficult to locate. Oh and on the Silver bearing solder, I've used the same stuff for over 9 years and have had nothing but good luck with it.

  • I just recapped a SV25 for a customer. During the testing phase (before I removed cover) I noticed the memory count would be sporatic. I then noticed one of the capacitors by the memory slots was not seated like the others and three by the CPU were bulged. I replaced the caps and as of almost two weeks the system has not locked up or rebooted. The memory count has been 100% since as well.
