    Soundcard needs a new capacitor

    Hi everyone-

I managed to knock a capacitor off of my soundcard (ASUS Xonar D1 @CE4), and all I've been able to find-out is that it's probably 220uF and possibly a 'Nichicon'-

Does anyone know what it is exactly and where I could find one?

    Thanks in advance!

Re: Soundcard needs a new capacitor

The capacitor is probably made by Panasonic, series FK. In that case, the C at the bottom stands for the voltage rating, 16v. The uF value is 220uF.

    Here's the datasheet:

There's two capacitors in this series with specifications 220uF and 16v, you can see that if you scroll down in the datasheet in the chart.

    6.3 7.7 D8 280 0.34 0.16 EEEFKC221XAP (5) 900
    8 6.2 E 300 0.26 0.16 EEEFK1C221AP (6) 1000

D8 and E are the codes that tell you all the dimensions, in case you can't find exactly Panasonic FK you can use these dimensions to find a compatible one from a mechanical point of view (not electronic). So measure the diameter of your capacitor (use a ruler for example) and see if it's 6.3mm or 8mm and that will tell you which version is yours.

Digikey holds both versions in stock:

    6.3mm dia: http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...88CT-ND/766164

    8 mm dia : http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...87CT-ND/766163

Compare the dimensions you can measure with your ruler with the ones in the links above and pick the right one... or just buy one of each and see which matches when you receive them.

Other capacitors that should work for your needs should be the ones towards the top of the list linked here (i filtered results for you) : http://goo.gl/iEIdfb

Digikey.com is a good store to buy capacitors from, other good stores are Mouser.com or Newark.com - they're authorized distributors.
