    nichicon pw from Ebay ?

    What do you think, these capacitors are fake? The seller says that they are 100% original, whether or not to believe him?

              To be on the safe side I would assume all caps coming from China are fakes.

              I say purchase the caps from the Badcaps.net online super store.

                  PW's are Brown sleeved with White printing.
                  The vent stamp is Wrong; the bung is Wrong.
                  Absolutely fake.

                  PW's are not considered a "Motherboard Capacitor"

                          Probably yes. Make an account and see.

                          If you can't afford paying 8$ (i think that's the cost) for shipping to get them from Badcaps store (as it's in US), there are good stores in Europe, like Farnell or RS-Online.

                          Farnell charges me in Romania about 6$ to ship any package through UPS, no matter how big it is... it's quite nice.
                          RS-Online charges 5 euro (well, i order on rs-online, rs-online delivers the package to some company in the country they have agreement with and then this company sends the package through courier to me for 5 euro)

                          If you only need a couple of capacitors I don't know, I could send you some if I have them and you can pay me through paypal the online price and about 2$ for stamps.

                              Shipping from Farnell out 20 euros, which is too expensive. I want to buy their capacitors Panasonic FR.

                                      Hello All, I have on the bench a couple of PSU's which have some failed Nichicon PL series caps. They didn't "puke" their guts through the top, but instead "diarrhea'ed" corrosive brown electrolyte through the bottom, down the legs and onto the board. On one cap, the electrolyte rotted the cap right off the board leaving 2 little stubs, and also corroded a trace on the foil side.

                                      The PSU's are Power-One MAP series and are ringing-choke topology. The semiconductors have date codes in 1993. The PSU's were used in a commercial application, fan-cooled. They had failed...

                                      I recently acquired a set of Bose Roomate speakers from the mid to late 80's. Basically the right speaker cabinet is completely passive, and the left one has the power transformer and amplifier circuit in it. Out of curiosity, I opened it up to see what the circuit looked like. Looks like they used all Nichicon VX (2x 4700uF/16v for smoothing off the bridge rectifier), a couple random Nichicon SE series sprinkled on the board, and what really caught my eye - 2 yellow sleeved Nichicon caps (both 1uF/50v with no real series marking.                                       Recently I've noticed that some ShopJimmy backlight strips don't have double-sided tape installed upon them when an application calls for it, and I must purchase the tape separately. In a recent chat conversation with a customer service agent I told them if this tape wasn't applied when it was called for I would begin to consider ordering my backlight strips elsewhere. It looks like this time may have come.

                                      Same font, perfect logo, same size of the sleeve. The air vent looks okay. The diameter of the capacitors is correct per datasheet.

                                      It truly looks like the real thing.
                                      I doubt that you would distinguish it from a genuine one.. if it wasn't for the bung.

                                      Shall we be afraid, at this point, that even the bung can be replicated?...
