What brand cap is this (black SM-series)?

Anyone know the brand of this capacitor?
It has an 'M' on it but not in the usual Matsushita/Panasonic font.
I find them in lot of A/V gear from the 80's and early 90's.

In this case (M) indicates the tolerance level, which is 20%.

The shield logo is Nippon Chemi-con: http://www.chemi-con.co.jp/e/index.html

Overall, Nippon Chemi-con capacitors are very reliable. They had a few dud series, but none that are likely to turn up in AV equipment.

SM isn't on the site any more, as it's probably an older series. If their naming schemes are consistent, the closest modern replacement is probably SMG, which is an 85°C general purpose capacitor:

I see a lot of Korea Chemi-con as well in older AV equipment. Korea Chemi-con is (was?) a related company with a very similar shield logo, only with a dot in the center. Korea Chemi-con is not as well regarded, but I haven't seen any failures. Then again, I don't work on AV stuff very often. I'm not sure of the history, but I think they're related to Samyoung, which does turn up occasionally in computers with occasional failures.

      thanks very much.
I never saw that as a shield, just a box!
These parts did not fail, and I have never seen any fail except some leakage over 25+ years. I posted here because I thought someone would know and others might like to know as well. Thanks.

          Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

          Hello,

YouTube video of the problem encountered: https://youtube.com/shorts/q7TLNv36LUo

I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.

On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.

I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.

I changed the battery with a new and original battery.

I also had corrosion/oxidation on the...
