My project didnt work.Any suggestions?

This sucks.I swear theres a cosmic joker that thinks this its just hilarious to mess up my pc(s).Almost exactly one year ago I had an hp completely crap out on me and shortly after I bought this dell from some crook.Every time I get some spending money,something screws up or I get a ticket or something and it looks like its happening yet again.

I replaced the only obvious bad cap(by agp slot) and it didnt make a difference,same problem.No video,no post,amber b on the diagnostics panel,green power led,yellow mobo led and the psu and cpu fans are running.Ive tried everything.Swapping,removing,reseting,reseating and inspecting the mobo(no residue from heat,no odor,burns or broken solder joints).

I was hoping maybe someone here might have had this problem or maybe know what the problem is,be it more bad caps or a fried mobo.I have a hard time letting things go if I think they can be fixed,its kind of against my religion.

Just tell me my board is fried and ill leave you all alone

Sorry I got up late and I've been busy.

The large capacitors are rubycon mcz and some are mbz.The smaller ones,im not sure what the are,it has an R inside of a square and an on the opposite side some have an ZA and some have a ZL.

This is the small desktop gx270 by the way.

Yeah it probably is,from what I just read that sounds right.

I was hoping I wouldnt have to hear that but I kind of expected it,it happens.On the plus side,I do have enough parts to build a couple pc's,I just need a couple (new)motherboards.

Thanks a lot everybody,at least now I can leave it be knowing theres nothing I can do about it.

I take it the black spot we can see on the southbridge isn't dirt... if so, then a new board is required.

Yep,it doesnt come off.I saw that but never thought anything of it,I would have expected something more obvious.

check your power supply if that is indeed a burn on the sb.
otherwise something plugged into usb did it.i used a recapped 270 board for a testbed for a long time and it went t/u one day when i plugged a bum flash drive in.stunk and left a spot on the sb.
odd to see a 270 board without the caps popped.if you want to save this box holler.i may have an extra on the shelf.

Replace power supply (standard quality ATX PSU will work like seasonic, silverstone etc,) and another dell mainboard (from ebay).

The southbridge blew out because of bad standby supply circuit in the PSU.

Yeah I wanted to get rid of that power supply anyway.It seems to me that with 8 usb ports it should have better than a 200w output.

Its strange,I had absolutely no problems with it then all of the sudden it blows a capacitor and the southbridge gets cooked.Thats my luck though,I have plenty experience with software and hadware(aside from motherboards,I can diagnose and fix anything,my os was squeaky clean,uber snappy and locked down like fort knox but no,I get hit with a critical system board failure.

:rant:

I think shaun might have thrown me a trick question,maybe not.I pm'ed him but he hasnt replied yet.I just figured if I could get it cheap and fast,who cares,it was cheap.He has a reputation to uphold here so I dont think he would screw me over.

(My Dad Had) A mobo that was fried from a bad PS.
So I was bored and took every cap, every RAM,Heatsync + More

Corey, did the cap you put on it pop?

I hate to say it, but that might be the reason why. I see the cap next to the agp slot. Dells are marked backwards from most electronics. You actually put the cap in backwards, cause the board marking has the positive side highlighted, instead of negative. and the cap has the negative side highlighted, its a common mistake

I did the same thing on 3 caps next to the cpu on a 270 also. I posted here and these fine people are the ones who told me dells are backwards. as are asus and some other brands. just something to keep in mind

Another water pump automation project (suggestions ?)

Good day folks. Some of you may recall that a while ago I was struggling to put together what I considered to be a very basic automation for a water supply system. It didn't work out the way I intended and I learned my lesson to do it properly from the start, rather than try to reinvent the wheel and patch something together myself from scratch, so I'll stick to commercial alternatives for future projects and such a project just came in today !

This one is easier simply because this time the pump and level sensors are in the same place, so they don't require a remote connection....

[LA-J891P] Warm cpu on 19v rail injection, is it fried ?

Hi,
I'm learning electronics(already have some basics) by fixing a FH52M LA-J891P rev1B. It come from an acer nitro 5. The charger was defaulting upon pluging. The 19V rail resistance is 0ohm (I believe that caps screw my measurement). When i inject 5A, I get a rail tension of 1.3V, and 0.8V vcccore.
Except the cpu, I cant feel anything getting warmer.
I believe that it is normal, because the cpu is "eating" half the power I'm imputing.
I dont know if the cpu is fried, because I did not remove the big capacitor on vcccore.
I believe that if the cpu was fried,...

Does anyone know the Project ID of the Thomson 55UC6406 , panel: LSC550FN11-906? The picture appears duplicated and I can't change it in the service menu. I can only change the Project ID by pressing 062598, pressing 3 dashes, ID.

Samsung UN65AU8000FF fried by water

I was given this tv today. It was purchased just last month and only used for 3 weeks until recently when water leaked down the back and behind the cover. I removed the boards and WHOA 😲 did this thing get fried. Unfortunately the water got directly onto the backlights portion of the PSU. The board appears to be completely unrepairable, but I'm not certain about the backlights. I managed to get the probes of my tester into the slits of the plug and I DO get readings from both strings. I'm getting 26v from both. The PSU says LED Output is 167.4v however. Would this indicate that the backlights...
