    Brand of Capacitors to fix motherboards

    I have stackes of bad motherboards I want to start recapping.
    I made a list of the most common specs from what I could see .
    Here is my list.
    6.3v 3300uf *
    10v 1000uf *
    6.3v 220 uf
    25v 220 uf
    16v 1200uf *
    6.3v 100uf
    6.3v 1000uf *
    6.3v 1800uf
    16v 1500uf *
    25v 100uf
    6.3v 100uf
    10v 470uf
    16v 100uf
    25v 10uf
    25v 2uf
    The ones with the * are the most common ones.
    after reading many posts it looks like I dont have all the specs(not sure if i need them)
    I want to order replacements for most all of these but cant decide on the brands.
    I will not be over clocking or doing anything high end with the recapped motherboards.
    Just got a decent Soldering station and want to see what I can get working.
    Please help.

    Browse my inventory, I have almost every one of those values. The few that I don't have direct replacements for, I have more than adequate substitutes.

    The 1200uF 16v, use 1500uF 16v, done all the time and works fine. For the 10uF 25v, use 22uF 25v. 2uF? I've never ever seen one of those fail.

      You didn't take into account diameter and you will find that can be a big deal.

      Everyone has their own 'program' as it were.
      This is mine for mobos.
      - If it's 85C, it goes. [Doesn't matter what brand.]
      - 8mm and up and a bad brand [or any failed] then they go.
      - 6.3mm of 220uF and up are handled like 8mm and up.
      - 6.3mm of less than 220uF are handled like 4&5mm.
      - 4&5mm stay unless they are 85C [or any failed].
      That fixes the vast majority of boards.

      You also need to split up your list by grades of caps.
      A ZL or KZE or WX is usually fine in the Vcore on a P3 but not usually] on P4 and up.

      After you've done a few you will begin to get a feel for what grade should be where based on what you see there as original over and over.

        Many boards use those 4 & 5mm caps for onboard sound.
        Many sound cards fail because of these little caps.
        I've brought the sound back on many boards and sound cards by replacing these caps.
        I always replace these little caps. It's amazing how much *louder* your audio is after doing this. Just my 2 cents.

        If I am recapping an older board that has had a harsh life (read blade server boards) I will replace everything except polys. For socket 478, anything electrolytic near the heatsinks is replaced (except polys). For cooler running
        modern boards I follow PCBONEZ suggestions
