dell N4030 (PU4603 5v & 3.3v reg.) getting hot!

    dell N4030 (PU4603 5v & 3.3v reg.) getting hot!

    hello everyone,

    i got dell N4030 that have an power issue. I've notice the PU4603 5v & 3.3v regulator is getting hot.

    i check mosfets around and caps no short.

    i have tried to replaced it but it stilll getting hot too. so i guess something else making it hot. but i need ur help guys.

    here i write down volts reading of PU4603 RT8205B

    you just remove the wifi card and check it again. i had the same issue on the same model i removed the wifi card and switch it on, it works fine. now i replaced new wifi card on it.

        Kbc i/o problem remove the kbc and check.WHEN REMOVE KBC CHECK IC HOT OR NOT.

          remove it? it is ok to romove kbc IC and try without it?

          it doesn't cause more problem if i try it

            Instead of Removing Kbc i"ll suggest to check all jumpers near PU4603 for short to ground. If any of the jumpers shows short to GND then remove that Jumper and see which line is short to GND.all these should be done after removing Pu4603. If short still persists very likely KBC failure.

                i try many time about this problem the problem is kbc chip when remove chip plug charger nothing problem

                  this is where i was not sure and feared for da,mages in powering up without KBC. Thanks for your confirmation.

                          Hi, RT8205 IC pin 8 and 17 Have 3.3 and 4.9. That means Power IC is in good condition at this time. Check that PCH is hot. If it is you should change the PCH. I have a problem like this before couple of days. I did change the PCH and problem solved.
