    VX2835WM shoppinglist

    Hi

I found this forum when searching for a replacement powersupply and it looks like there is some competent people sharing their knowledge here. Allow me to say thank you for that.

I have this Viewsonic monitor and it's gone bad. No power but a ticking sound and occasional flicker in the indicatorlamp.

I can see in the other threads conserning this issue, that the cure is a replacement of all capacitors.

There is no pics, since it's recommended to replace them all.

So I hope that somebody who did this before me have a list of the necessary caps to buy.

Or? - Is there more to it?

It may be as easy as that but sometimes when caps go they take out other components. Do you have a multimeter and soldering iron.

I doubt if anyone will have a list and in any case it is better to prepare your own. The manufacturers change things on boards and yours may differ.
When you open the set up look for bulged or burst caps. We would normally advise changing all of that make and series on the board first. The BIG cap only if it looks obviously flawed and the little ones last. Sometimes what you do depend on the availability of good name caps where you live. I can get almost any just 10 minutes away, no min order so can fix things buying one at a time.

We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

The ticking sound might be a protection relay that is opening maybe due to a short circuit on one of the power rails.
