The Tek 466 is discontinued product (long discontinued!), so don't waste your time calling TEK.

Yeah i know i called them they had nothing to say about the model,

i am currently waiting for my HV probe to come, once that arrives i will be able to check that side of things because i believe that is where the problem is lying at the moment.

Join the TekScopes yahoo group. Those guys know a lot about the old tek scopes. They helped me with my 453.

Wanna get this thing fixed not turn it into a war between people.

Hurling abuse at someone you cant wrap your hands around is a waste of time. I understand this will throw it out of calibration but once its working my work has one i can use to re adjust it, however no one there knows how to use it.

Anything you can contribute is a big help and i do take everything on board, and it is all appreciated. If i didn't have a family to support i would love to do this as a trade however as we all know life is not always as we would like it to be and i have missed the boat.
best thing to do with that guy is add him to your ignore list or you will put with that constantly! not tryin to hijack just lettin gyou know

You have already learnt a lot about troubleshooting this scope, nothing wrong with fixing, learning and develop logical thinking at the same time. When you have good foundation in troubleshooting, it will be real good knowledge to have for the future. So keep on learning.

Re: Help Tektronix 466 repair advice

              Thanks all,

Its good to know i am not wasting my time, everything in life i learn thus far has been from the ground up and i have always came out better for it.

Once i have the unit working i was going to buy a signal generator to recal it myself.

Iv joined the Tek group just need some better equipment i am waiting on some resistors in the mail to build my HV probe,
              Just a simple voltage divider.

While i was waiting i have been building my variable Power supply,

Has 4 fixed voltages and 2 variable voltages.

Also has two different variable voltages controlled by a switch.
              0.5-30V 20amp
              0.5-30V 3amp

I am just waiting on the double gang pots and my switch to come before drilling the holes in the face plate.
I made the box so big that it would actually use less space so i could sit my test TV on it.

              Fixed +32V 20 amp
              Fixed -32V 3amp

These are on two different rails so are isolated from each-other.

              Fixed +18V 20 amp
              Fixed -18V 3amp

Re: Help Tektronix 466 repair advice

                Hey Everyone,

Post was slow, i finished my HV probe it worked perfectly.
I did a test before i took the measurements on a lower voltage to ensure the
                divider worked and it did!.

Sure enough on reduced scan i am getting my near normal operating voltages and on
normal i am getting well below.

                -----------------Expected-------------------------------------
                TP1501 -3010 Reduced Scan

                TP1501 -1470 Full scan

                ------------------RESULT-------------------------------------
                TP1501 -1702v Reduced Scan

                TP1501 -369v Full scan

                Q1472 Base = Reduced Scan 0.520
                Q1472 Base = Full SCAN 0.460

                Q1492 Base = -7.92 Reduced Scan
                Q1492 Base = -7.92 Full scan

                Q1496 Base = 18.38v Reduced Scan
                Q1496 Base = 18.38v Full scan
