sony 55ex723 fuse resistor 0.1ohm help

    I have a sony 55ex723

With the 2 shorted transistors and a blown 0.1 ohm 1/2w resistor

markings on the resistor are 0.1 o 1J6 where o=ohm

    Can I just replace thise with a 0.1 ohm resistor 1/2 w
Or do i need to source like for like...
    If so where,

    thanks

I'm not 100% sure, but that looks like some sort of cement resistor??? J means 5% tolerance. I'm not sure what the 6 is after it.

My understanding of cement resistors is minimal, but I thought there were generally needed to dissipate much higher wattage than 0.5W? Something like 3 to 5W depending on the size?

        Something like these?

From the schemtics its a 0.1ohm 1/2w rating fuse resistor..

I assume they have gone with cement type to minimise dammage when it blows ?

It works in its current state I think I have found a supplier for the exact type
But that will take time to come in..

It is also flame -proof type resistor.

i couldn't find one that was flame proof and 1/2 watt rating..

only ones I was finding were 1-3 watt rated ones...

So the replacement is fusible type? When fusible goes open circuit, it also will not allow the arc over to occur.

                    I was afraid of that..
I have found a like match from ebay maylsia
                    at a reasonable price...

But I now have 4 blink error on the set
:-( it happened after putting the set all back together

So now to strip and disconnect the bl error wire and see what happens..

                      Hello All,
I too need this 0.1 Ohm 500 mW(1/2 Watt) wirewound ceramic resistor, but guess what, I cant find it anywhere on the internet.

Does anybody know where I can order this fusible resistor from, the smallest value I can find is 2 Watts. I'm willing to order it from anything on this vast planet of ours, but UK wise I just can't find the thing.

                      Thank you...

                        Update:

                        Hello people,
Well after looking all over the internet and coming to the conclusion that getting the original wirewound ceramic fusible resistor for the KDL-40EX723 was just an impossibility, I decided to go for an 0.1 Ohms 0.75 Watt wirewound resistor (see attached photo).

The TV has been running for 8 hours straight now with no issues whatsoever, and the resistor is running nice and cool to. I also changed 2 MOSFETS, Q6701 and Q6702 as they has popped, I also changed resistor R6548 for the one I mentioned previously.

Cheers to @Shepp and your previous post about your KDL-40EX723

                          Hello together,

I actually have the same problem at an Sony KDL-46EX725, power supply type: APS-298, Sony-No. 1-883-917-11.
The two MOS-FET's Q6702+Q6703 ( STP9NK50ZFP) blow up (short cutted pins).

AND the protection before them, the fuse-resistor R6548 are blown also.
The problem is not only that the 0,1Ohm 1J6 ist still not available at all - also no data sheets are available to find really compatible versions.
This sort of resistors seems to be banned in near time. All distributors sems to give them a "nice last greeting".
What I found here in germany (but could be sold worldwide) is this one where I think it's the best actual available compromise of 0,1Ohm, 0,75W:

Manufacturer Vitrohm: BFW237-0 10T 0R1, => insulated, flame-retartand resistor, fail-safe, in an Bakelite Moulded case

                            it worked fine
                            tv is still in use
                            hope that helps
